bachelorette weekend recap no. 3 // the poolside brunch

This poolside brunch was such a special start to our morning and the perfect way to kick off #KatesLastSplash! Plus, this would be such an easy event to recreate for your own bachelorette party or girls get together! All you need are a few favorite pastries, fresh juice, some champagne and sunny skies.

Yesterday, I mentioned that I would be sharing all of the Friday fun that the Lilly Pulitzer team planned for us. Hint hint… there was a poolside brunch involved, a make your own mojito bar, and even a watercolor cookie painting class!

I’m noticing a bit of a pattern here, y‘all. I set out to create a short, susinct blog post only to find I want to share every single detail with y‘all!

Needless to say, when I started putting together today’s post, I quickly realized I’d need to divide it up yet again. So today, instead of skating over all of Friday, let’s dive into the very beginning of our day… the poolside brunch!

After pizza, wine and lots of catching up on Thursday night, my bridesmaids and I hit the hay early. We knew we had a big day ahead, and wanted to be ready!

Sure enough, when we walked downstairs Friday morning, we were greeted by a massive, absolutely gorgeous breakfast spread from Black Bear Bread Co. We could have fed an army, y’all. White chocolate blueberry scones, chocolate croissants, bagels, cinnamon rolls… every treat you could dream of!

The Lilly Pulitzer girls (pictured above, right underneath the individual shots of all of my bridesmaids) had a fabulous playlist piping through the house and made sure a fresh mimosa was in every hand. We piled our plates, topped off our glasses, and headed out to the pool!

That’s when we saw the stunning floral balloon decor that Mingle 30A had installed while we were sleeping! Do those gorgeous colors not just take your breath away? If you’re ever planning an event on 30A, or are even just looking for some decoration inspiration, you have to check out their gorgeous, creative offerings here! They brought so much life to our party!

The funniest part of the morning, in my opinion, was when my sister, Steele, decided to climb aboard the pool float in her clothes. She is such a riot and had us all laughing so hard.

It wasn’t long before everyone changed out of their adorable brunch outfits into swimsuits and these matching coverups. The weather was too beautiful not to enjoy the pool! Let me just say, seeing all of my friends from different seasons of life having fun together was such a joy.

Let me just say, being at One in a Vermillion doesn’t hurt either!

Can’t wait to be back tomorrow with the second activity of our Lilly Pulitzer-filled day… our make your own mojito bar!

wedding wednesday no. 23 // bachelorette weekend recap no. 2

During my bachelorette party weekend, the incredible team at Sanders Beach Rentals completely blew us away by putting us up in our own little Watercolor paradise… One in a Vermillion! Talk about southern hospitality, am I right? So excited to share more photos of our gorgeous stay!

Friends! After sharing Bachelorette Weekend Recap No. 1 with y‘all last week, I’m giddy to be back with more photos (thank you, John!) and stories from the best weekend ever with my favorite girls, my favorite brand and in my favorite place. #KatesLastSplash

There were many moments of my bachelorette weekend that made it incredibly special, but I think my very favorite part of the weekend was the setting… my very favorite place in the world, Seaside, Florida!

Many of you know this, but my family and I have spent a week in Seaside, Florida every summer for as long as I can remember. Right next to Seaside is the town of Watercolor, which is pretty much the exact same concept! Pastel homes, front porch swings, all the charm of Seaside that I hold so dear. The main difference? The homes tend to be a bit more expansive there. (Perfect for large groups!)

So when Lilly Pulitzer decided to make my dream bachelorette weekend come true by bringing my friends and I to the land of sunshine and sandy floors, I knew it was going to be amazing. What I never could have guessed, however, was just how gorgeous the home we’d all get to stay in would be!

The incredible team at Sanders Beach Rentals completely blew us away by putting us up in our own little Watercolor paradise… One in a Vermillion! Talk about southern hospitality, am I right?

Today, I’m thrilled to share some beautiful imagery my wedding photographer John captured of this beautiful home. So grab a cup of coffee and get ready to scroll, then head to the end of the post for more details on our stunning stay. Don’t forget, you can use the code “BeachPlease” for 10% off any Sanders Beach Rentals property!

To put it in a nutshell, spending a weekend in One in a Vermillion was a total dream. When my sister and I first walked in on Thursday afternoon, we could hardly breathe. Picture gorgeous windows, dreamy, neutral furnishings, and our favorite part… a living room that opens up completely to the back patio! With the weather being perfect all weekend, we kept that back wall open the entire time.

The Lilly Pulitzer team decorated the entire house in Lilly… from patterned pillows on every chair and seat cushions in the living room to wine glasses, cups and champagne flutes in the kitchen. Don’t even get me started on the unreal candy bar they set up. They made sure to stock up on all of my beach favorites… Swedish Fish, mini york mints, peanut butter M&Ms, and sour patch watermelons!

They even set up an accessory bar filled with gorgeous statement earrings, and put together the most adorable welcome bags for every girl! We were completely spoiled, to say the least, because the Sanders team also put together gift bags for each of us. Did you see the huge assortment of goodies they packed into my cooler?! To die for!

I received tons of questions about these Lilly Pulitzer welcome bags, so I thought it would be fun to show you all the details. Everyone was so excited to open these up, and we ended up using our totes, towels and swell bottles all weekend and especially during our time at the beach Saturday! Feel free to click directly on a product to shop it.

Eight out of my twelve bridesmaids were able to make the trip, so before everyone arrived, my sister and I went around and placed name signs on each of the seven rooms (yes, seven!) so no one had to fret about finding a bed. Steele and I slept in the master, and it was the most beautiful room I think I’ve ever been in. Just look at this view I had one morning! And yes… that is a swinging daybed on the private porch. Can you even?!

Calling One in a Vermillion home for the weekend was a dream come true, and I can’t thank the Sanders Beach Rentals team enough for hosting us so generously! My girls and I are already dreaming of a reunion, and honestly, is it too soon to start planning? If you’re looking to head to Watercolor, be sure to check out their stunning homes here! These would be perfect destinations for multi-family trips, friend reunions and so much more. Again, don’t forget to use the code “BeachPlease” for 10% off your rental!

Now that we have set the stage for the weekend, I can’t to fill y’all in on all of the fun Lilly Pulitzer planned for us on Friday! See you tomorrow for more details! :)

Love from Texas,

Kate

my favorite place to shop for swimsuits

From the adorable, classic prints to the tastefully on-trend silhouettes, J.Crew is always the first destination I head to for swimsuits. Not only that, but the styles are always so timeless that I end up wearing them year after year.

Last week, I got my very first taste of salty air and sandy beaches, and my goodness did it feel amazing! Springtime is here, y’all, and with it all of the spring break fun in the sun that makes this my favorite season of the year!

It also means swimsuit shopping season is here, and today I am truly giddy to be partnering with J.Crew one of my absolute favorite brands, in sharing their incredible swim collection!

Just last weekend at my bachelorette party, my friends and I started talking about the always-arduous swimsuit hunt. I mean really, who enjoys the process?! We were sharing horrible swimsuit shopping stories, laughing/grimacing about the super high-cut style that’s so in right now, and quickly started talking about our love for the J.Crew swim line!

You can fact check me on this, y’all. My friend Julie literally exclaimed, “I swear, J.Crew is really the only place I shop for swimsuits anymore!” (She was wearing this bikini at the time.) Another friend, CA, jumped in with how much she appreciated the “long torso” options available in some of the one pieces. (She had on an adorable eyelet one-piece from last year.) We all agreed… J.Crew swim is the best.

And it is, don’t y’all agree?! From the adorable, classic prints to the tastefully on-trend silhouettes, J.Crew is always the first destination I head to for swimsuits. Not only that, but the styles are always so timeless that I end up wearing them year after year. Here are a few J.Crew swimsuits I own and love from past seasons!

This spring, they have so many adorable styles out! I had a hard time choosing just one for this post, but couldn’t say no to the beautiful blue hues in this tasteful two-piece. It was just made for the pristine cerulean views of Seaside, Florida, don’t you think?

Here are a few of my other favorites I’m loving at the moment!

It’s hard to believe just this time last week, all of my girls and I were hanging out in Watercolor, Florida with Lilly Pulitzer! I just received all of the images back from my wedding photographer John, and Y’ALL. I just can’t wait to share all the fun with you…

It’s hard to believe just this time last week, all of my girls and I were hanging out in Watercolor, Florida with Lilly Pulitzer! I just received all of the images back from my wedding photographer John, and Y’ALL. I just can’t wait to share all the fun with you this coming week!

Adjusting back to the grind this week after such a fairytale weekend away proved to be quite the challenge, but some major wedding developments took place that have left me completely elated and exhausted now that we’ve reached Friday! Let’s just say I have some big news to share soon! EEK!

I’m currently typing this as I sip my afternoon cup of joe before packing up and heading off to one of my very best friend’s… wait for it… bachelorette weekend! Yes, you read that right, two bachelorettes in a row! Amanda, who you can read more about here, is an absolute ray of sunshine, and I absolutely can’t wait to celebrate her this weekend. It’s been so hard catching up these days while we both plan weddings in different cities, so needless to say I am thrilled for time with her and so many friends at the lake!

Since I seem to be smack in the middle of #BacheloretteSeason this week, I thought it would be fun to break from our typical roundup of the cutest new arrivals to hit the web, and instead focus on some fun bachelorette party decoration ideas!

There are so many fun options these days (here is an entire boutique dedicated just to bachelorettes!) so I hope this collage gives you a fun bit of inspiration whether you’re planning a bachelorette party now or will sometime in the future! Let’s just say, between the Lilly Pulitzer team and my sweet bridesmaids, my bachelorette weekend was filled with so much fun. Just wait for the photos!

So without further ado, have fun checking out these cute items!

I’ve been a busy bee checking off some major items this week, so forgive me for being a bit absent on Instagram/IG Stories! It was one of those weeks, y’all, and I have a feeling the next few leading up to the wedding are going to be pretty similar. :) So thanks for hanging with me!

Can’t wait to be back next week with all the #KatesLastSplash details y’all have been asking for!

The dress I’m wearing in today’s post has already become an instant favorite of mine this season. Y’all know my love for classic, feminine pieces, and this little frock checks all the boxes… from the tailored-top to the accentuated waist all the way down to the billowy skirt. It’s crisp and clean, effortless and sweet all at once!

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. April is my favorite month. And no, not just because of my birthday, promise! :)

Year after year, I’ve seen that April marks the true beginning of spring… the greens become greener, the air smells sweeter, and after the dreary dull of winter, everything seems fresh and new!

Another favorite part of April? Spring shopping! There’s nothing I love more than wearing easy, feminine dresses day-in and day-out, and the breezy, balmy weather April finally brings makes this a daily reality.

wedding wednesday no. 22 // bachelorette weekend recap no. 1

Since we call can’t call in sick and jump on a plane to Watercolor, Florida today, I figured I’d do the next best thing… walk you through the entire weekend – from the second we landed in sunny Florida to all the shenanigans that happened while we were there. A bachelorette weekend recap, if you will!

As I sit here typing this, I’m in a state of disbelief that my bachelorette weekend, one I have been looking forward to for so long, actually, truly, really happened!

I have to confess… after months of planning and anticipation with the Lilly Pulitzer team, it’s a bit bittersweet being on the other side of it. I’m sitting here wondering “Why we don’t do it every weekend?” Would anyone want to join me for round 2? :)

Since we call can’t call in sick and jump on a plane to Watercolor, Florida today, I figured I’d do the next best thing… walk you through the entire weekend – from the second we landed in sunny Florida to all the shenanigans that happened while we were there. A bachelorette weekend recap, if you will!

I have a feeling this post may get long (really though, who’s surprised?) so in the interest of everyone’s time, I’m going to break up the weekend festivities into a few different posts. Today, I’ll be covering a general recap of Wednesday and Thursday. What we did, where we ate, and all the fun we had along the way!

You may remember some extra special activities the Lilly Pulitzer team planned for us on Friday (ahem… watercolor cookie class, build your own mojito bar and a sunset dinner to name a few) and I plan to cover those each in extra detail soon!

Sound good? Let’s jump in!

Wednesday

Check-in at our gorgeous home in Watercolor, One In a Vermillion, wasn’t until Thursday afternoon, so my sister Steele and I decided to head down a day early for some fun one-on-one time before all the craziness started! If you remember, my family and I go to Seaside (the immediate nextdoor neighbor of Watercolor) every summer, so it’s a really special place for us.

After a spray tan (I get the Versa Clear + Light every time), an easy flight and a quick road trip filled with plenty of Beyonce, Dixie Chicks, and Britney Spears, we made it to our adorable AirBnB. We quickly changed and headed to one of our favorite spots, the rooftop of Bud & Alley’s, for lunch and a glass of frozen rosé!

It was such a gorgeous day, we’re talking 75 degrees with a cool breeze and sunny sky, that we decided to walk around Seaside for a bit before heading home to rest up and get ready for dinner. (Can you tell eating was a large part of our day? Ha!)

Steele and I have been dying to try Pescado ever since our friend Elisabeth recommended it to us last summer. Sure enough, it did not disappoint! We got a spot out on the porch, watched the sun go down over the water, and enjoyed what may just be the most amazing meal we’ve ever had! Three words. Tempura. Friend. Lobster.

Then, we drove back to our Airbnb to rest up for the big day!

THURSDAY

Thursday! The day everyone arrived!

Steele and I got up early to shoot some photos at the beach, and treated ourselves to a Frostbite’s snow cone. My favorite order? A coconut piggly wiggly! Which means ice cream on the bottom coconut-flavored frozen ice in the middle, and sweet cream drizzled on top. Oh, and topped off with a gummy pig, of course! To die for!

Before we knew it, it was time to head over to One in a Vermillion! We were absolutely giddy to see the home and hug the Lilly Pulitzer and Sanders Beach Rentals team. You couldn’t have wiped the grins off of our faces for anything!

We stepped inside, and I nearly fainted with excitement. The home was truly jawdropping. Picture whites, neutrals, tall ceilings and a back wall made out of windows that completely opened to the gorgeous patio! Oh… and Lilly Pulitzer touches everywhere.

If you want to see more, check out my Instagram Story Highlight “kateslastsplash” for a tour. I can’t wait to share more details on and photos of the gorgeous home soon! I could have stayed forever.

Also, I just have to mention that Sanders Beach Rentals, the amazing company who hosted us this past weekend, is offering a 10% discount on any of their properties with the code “BeachPlease”. Such an amazing offer, y’all!

Before I knew it, my friend Julie arrived! And then Camille! And finally the entire Dallas crew! We opened up a bottle of wine, stuffed ourselves with some delicious pizza from Brozinni’s, and opened the gorgeous gift bags that Lilly Pulitzer and Sanders Beach Rentals had put together for everyone. Then, we wwent to bed jittery with excitement for all the fun Lilly Pulitzer had planned for the next day.

Only a day and a half in, and I could already tell this was going to be the best weekend EVER. I hope this gives you a taste for our first couple of days on 30A, and I absolutely can’t wait to share more of the magic Lilly Pulitzer planned for us on Friday soon!

Before I sign off, I just wanted to thank y’all SO much for your kind words and excitement as you followed along this past weekend! Your messages, DMs and comments truly made me smile… I felt like y’all were there, too! Can’t wait to share more very soon!

Love from Texas,

Kate
