Last Thursday, my mama and I did something oh-so-fun. We packed up my car and road tripped down to Montgomery, Texas. We’d been invited to tour the new Southern Living Showcase Home, and you bet we weren’t about to miss that!

Having been Southern Living readers our entire lives (to this day I remember the huge chest my mom kept of all of her issues), she and I both knew about the showcase home program, but had never had the opportunity to visit on in person! Not knowing what to expect, we were blown away by this beautiful home built on Tiger Wood’s first US golf course community, Blue Jack, and are so excited to share a bit of it with you today!

In true Southern style, the first thing about this house to catch my eye was the beautiful, big porch holding rocking chairs and swings alike! In fact, the outside details around the house were just as beautifully and meticulously coordinated as those on the interior. There was even a fireplace lining the edge of the pool that had underwater stools on one side (for enjoying in the water) and a cut-out dry area on the other for enjoying without getting wet.

The inside, however, did not disappoint. A few of our favorite features? The bunk bed build that was perfectly tucked into the little boy’s room, the climate controlled wine room downstairs, and the huge wetroom inside the master bath.

I had the chance to speak with the builder, Ted from Morning Star Builders, who told me that one of his favorite part of the building process is coming up with creative, inexpensive details you won’t find anywhere else. (The stairs that doubled as cabinets in the boy’s room were one of the many we came across!)

I also got to meet the incredible design team from Chairma, who added so much character to this house. There were fun pops of color and gorgeous-yet-liveable accents everywhere you looked. It was evident that Cindy and her whole team went to great lengths to create a space that perfectly captured the personality of the family moving in. It was just plain fun to discover corner after corner of the spaces she created!

My favorite part of the whole afternoon was learning that proceeds from the ticket sales of this show home (yes, you can buy tickets HERE!) go to aid Homeaid Houston and Operation Finally Home, which are two incredible organizations doing amazing things in the Houston community in the wake of Harvey.

This gorgeous home will be open for touring Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from September 15th to October 29th, and you can buy tickets here. My mother and I had such an incredible time viewing this stunning property, and know you will too!

Love from Texas,

Kate
