finally! a pair of jean shorts i love

If there’s one thing you don’t often see me in, it’s shorts. To be frank, I hate them. For whatever reason, I’ve always felt that shorts have never fit to never be quite right on me! That is until these Abercrombie curve love mid rise mom shorts, y’all.

One thing I quickly realized upon moving to Florida in the middle of summer, however, is that I was going to have to get on the jean shorts train fast. When it’s above 90 degrees and humid as all get out, pants simply will not work. You’ve gotta figure something else out!

So for the past two years, I’ve been on a serious hunt for the perfect pair of jean shorts. What does that consist of? A reasonable price point, a simple cut, and, most importantly, a loose-leg fit. I’ve had some luck knocking off one or two things on that list, but haven’t had a slam dunk until now!

Friends… meet my new favorite pair of jean shorts: the curve love mid rise mom shorts!

SHORTS curve love mid-rise mom short (wearing usual jean size, 25 in “dark wash”) | SHIRT white blouse | BOOTS pink cowboy boots (old color, brand linked)

I stumbled across these a few weeks ago and was instantly intrigued by the name. The idea of “mom shorts” seemed promising, especially after feeling like nearly every pair of shorts I was trying on was so tight around the thigh.

Upon further inspection, I found that this style “features an additional 2 inches through the hip and thigh from our classic fit.” Since I’m always struggling with shorts that fit too tightly, this was exactly what I was looking for!

I ordered one pair in the “ripped medium wash” to try them out, and after receiving them I immediately added the dark wash and the white pair to my cart. Y’all.. they’re just so good!

Now, for a few details on the fit and sizing. I ordered my usual size and a size up, and ended up preferring my normal jean size. Sizing up made them a bit too baggy in the rear. I will say, these are still pretty short. If it were up to me, I’d have another inch or so in length, but that’s the only thing I’d tweak!

On that note, I think that individual pairs vary slightly in terms of just how short they are. If you look at the product photo online, some rips and tears affect how short they are. For instance, the darker pair I’m wearing in this post fits a bit longer than the light-wash pair because of the distressing. Just something to keep in mind!

If you’re blessed with slender, sky-high legs, these are probably going to be way too baggy on you. But if you’ve got a little somethin’ somethin’ going on in the back/thigh area (like your girl does!) I think you’ll love them. I know I do, and can’t wait to wear them non-stop these next few months!

Love from the Sunshine State,

Kate

How do you keep your Jean shorts from riding up? I just tried some Abercrombie shorts and they always ride up and I feel like I’m showing my butt off lol.

Jean shorts are the worst to find a good pair! They’re always so tight and that’s not comfortable haha. Will definitely order a pair of these to try out! Thanks Kate :)

Love these shorts! Bought them in white and trying to figure out which denim color is my favorite. Did you see the curve love 4” high rise mom short? Might help with the extra length you want! Although not as many color options and I sometimes find high rise goes a little too high in some pants because I’m petite.
