a few friday favorites

The morning after Halloween… how is everyone feeling?! We only received a hand full of trick-or-treaters last night (womp womp) so the only real solution for our candy basket was to eat. it. all. Please tell me I’m not the only one with a candy hangover this morning! :)

It’s been a minute since I posted a “Friday Favorites,” so I thought it would be fun to kick off November (yes, NOVEMBER!) with a few things I’ve been loving lately! I always have a blast putting these together, so I hope you enjoy!

DRESS (Wearing size S. I cut the elastic on the sleeves because it was tight and it looks so cute!) // JACKET // HEADBAND (super affordable) // SHOES (sold out, similar pair I own linked here)

A NEW TRADER JOE’S FIND

Andrew and I had a couple of friends over for dinner and pumpkin carving earlier this week and, as us Texans like to do, decided fajitas would be perfect for the occasion! While at Trader Joe’s, I came across the pre-marinated Carne Asada and decided to give it a try. I threw it in a frying pan and did around 3-4 minutes on each side at high heat and oh my word… it turned out amazingly! Tender, juicy, flavorful, and so easy to prepare. 10/10 in my book!

HEADBAND HOLDER

It’s no secret that I’ve completely bought into the headband trend over here. These padded cuties have started taking over my house! Which is why I decided to find an effective (but still cute) storage solution. Enter these clear, stackable headband holders from Amazon. I just got mine in this week and have already put it to use. I love having a cute way to store, and display, these pieces!

LONESTAR SOUTHERN X THE IMPECCABLE PIG COLLECTION

We’re officially less than ONE WEEK AWAY, friends! I hinted at my upcoming winter collection with The Impeccable Pig while photographing it in Dallas last week. I say it every time, but I truly think this is one of my favorites yet! Mark your calendars for this coming Thursday, November 7! I can’t wait for you to see everything we have in store for you!

BEST FAUX FUR BRAND

While opening up a few blogger packages earlier this week, I unfolded the most beautiful faux fur jacket. In fact, I can’t believe it’s not real fur! I’ve always felt like wearing faux fur can be tricky… the pieces can look off, unflattering and downright cheesy if the material and cut aren’t perfect. Let me tell you, the brand Bubish is amazing and has got it down just right! For all my winter brides out there, I think you’ll especially love this piece.

SWEETEST PUPPY TIP

If you missed the announcement… Andrew and I are bringing our NEW PUPPY home tomorrow! We are so, so thrilled to add a furry love to our little family, and I can’t wait to introduce him to you all. I asked for favorite puppy products/tips on Instagram, and am so thankful for the amazing and numerous replies you all sent in! My favorite tip was to grab this Snuggle Puppy toy. It has a heartbeat that can soothe separation anxiety. Andrew and I have ordered one and plan to rub it on our puppy’s mother so he’ll have something with her scent on it to snuggle up next to. (Another fab tip from you all!)

UPCOMING TRAVEL PLANS

Next weekend, I’m so excited to head to Asheville, NC with my precious big, Courtney! She is a pro-planner and has the most amazing weekend laid out for us. I miss her dearly and am beside myself for a long-overdue girls weekend full of yummy restaurants, tons of catching up, wine, exploring, and every other sort of fun! If you have any Asheville recommendations, we’re all ears!

“WHERE TO START”

After sharing an IGTV and blog post about how I grew my love for reading the Word, I received many questions asking where to start. This can be the most intimidating thing, right?! I would suggest any of these reading plans from She Reads Truth! They are all free, easy to navigate and give you a daily plan to work through many books/topics we find in Scripture. My two cents? Read through the text on your own first, then read the commentary. I dearly hope this helps any of you who are looking to start spending time in the Word, but don’t know where/how to begin!

After spending nearly every weekend in October out of town, I am so looking forward to these next few days here at home! From a cold front rolling in today to curling up with Andrew and our new puppy, there are so many things I’m looking forward to. What do you have on your agenda?

As always, thank you for spending some of your week with me!

Love from the Sunshine State,

Kate

The Downton exhibit opens Nov 8 at Biltmore. Also, plan a stop at Tops!

Our favorite restaurants are Bouchon French Bistro downtown and Smokey Park Supper Club on the French Broad River. Also the French Broad Chocolate Lounge is a great after dinner treat. It’s downtown too. Have a blast!

    Some Asheville rec’s:
If you want to do a few breweries even if you’re not that into craft beer, here are my suggestions —
New Belgium is a beautiful establishment right on the river (pretty views), and the tour is thorough and the tour guides are entertaining! You can find a beer you like and bring it on the walking tour with you, or they offer many taste samples along the way.
Wicked Weed has great food and beer! If you head down the street to their branch-off establishment, the Funkatorium, you’ll find a big menu of yummy fruit/tart beers.
Both of these breweries are bigger and more popular of the ones downtown, but for a reason — they have great drinks and atmosphere!
My top food recommendation is to head to the outskirts of downtown for breakfast at Taco Billy’s! A cute little place with amazingly fresh, absolutely delicious breakfast tacos, juices, and coffee!

Our favorite restaurants are Curate, Cucina 24, and Sovereign Remedies. All are great for pre or post-dinner cocktails or for an entire evening meal. Asheville is a perfect place to make separate stops for cocktails, dinner, and dessert!

Asheville is the BEST! Y’all will have an amazing time! My favorite breakfast place ever is Biscuit Head – there are a few around town and I highly recommend the pulled pork biscuit.

It would be cool if influencers could use their powers to influence for good ie. promting adoption instead of breeders, etc.

If y’all are visiting the Biltmore, your ticket in to the house also allows you to go to the Winery for a free sampling, I think you get to choose six wines to try. If you are touring the house, make sure a get the audio guide, its totally worth it! Plus the Downton Abby exhibit is on display right now at the house.

  8. Thanks for the great information. Recently I visited Chick fil A. They allows its customers to give feedback if they have visited any outlet in the near past. https://www.mycfavisit.blog/ is the official website where the survey is taken from the customers.
Not only this, but to encourage the customers to participate in this, they also offer a free sandwich just by spending a few minutes answering a few simple questions.
