This post is brought to you by Bloomingdale’s.
Of any post I’ve ever written, this has to be one of my very favorites. That’s because today, in honor of prom season, I’m taking a walk down memory lane, and bringing you along with me, as I recreate my senior prom look with the help of Bloomingdale’s!
More than the night itself, I remember the prep that went into my senior prom oh-so-vividly. Can anyone relate? Oh my word… the spray tans, the makeup appointments, the agonizing hours spent in dressing rooms trying to find the perfect gown…. what a blur!
Online shopping was just starting to gain traction, so I was pretty limited to what I could actually find in-store. Even though Dallas has a fabulous shopping scene, I still remember having so much trouble finding a dress I absolutely loved.
At long last, I settled on a white halter-neck gown with a lovely wrapped waist and finished the look off with a turquoise necklace and a black Tory Burch crossbody that I wore as a clutch.
I’ll be the first to admit that I have so many (too many) “fashion” moments in high school that I’d love to forget, but I truly love what I wore for my senior prom. While the stress of finding the dress and putting the whole look together probably gave me a few grey hairs, I remember feeling so confident once it was all said and done, and having the time of my life that evening!
One resource I wish I’d taken advantage of all those years ago? The gorgeous dress election at Bloomingdale’s. The evening and formal gown department boasts hundreds of beautifully curated dresses perfect for prom, black tie weddings, and any other Cinderella-worthy occasion you have on your calendar. They had everything I needed in creating this modern take on my senior prom look!

In recreating my senior prom ensemble, I took inspiration from my all-white gown and chose this dress, a beautiful Aidan Mattox design with a gorgeous, intricate lace overlay and subtle, flattering cutouts. The lace gives a fresh twist from my all-white senior prom look while the chic silhouette keeps things elegant and simple.
I loved how the turquoise necklace looked against my senior prom dress and decided to bring that same feel to my recreation of the look with these fun turquoise earrings! They bring that same pop of color to the look and, since they draw the eyes upward, actually elongate my silhouette.
When it comes to prom and special event dresses, I especially love the Aidan Mattox line that’s available 100% exclusively at Bloomingdale’s. It’s full of gorgeous dresses in every hue, almost all with price points under the $200 and $300 mark.
If you love color, check out this stunning pink beauty. Prefer a bit of sparkle? This embellished gown is a show-stopper! There’s truly a style there for everyone, and think you’ll have fun perusing the entire collection here.
Next up? Freshening things up from my battered, black Tory Burch clutch with this lovely white crossbody. (Can you tell old habits die hard? I used the same trick for this purse, tucking the chain in to transform it into a clutch!)
Finally, I settled on the perfect Cinderella-worthy shoe. Friends, meet your new best friend… these Sam Edelman heels! I have owned these in nude for over a year now, and they’ve become my go-to because of their style, price point and comfort level. I can dance all night in these! When I found them in a gorgeous gold shimmer, I knew I’d found my new obsession. If you’re looking for a great formal shoe that you can actually walk (and dance!) in, I can’t recommend these enough!
I had so much fun taking y’all back in time with me today, and now I want to hear from you! If prom is in your past, what did you wear? If prom on your horizon, I’d love to know what look are you going for!
Love from Texas,
Kate

What a gorgeous dress! I vividly remember prom prep too – I actually ended up getting the first dress I tried on, a strapless light green number. I remember feeling so fun because everyone else had black on. xAllie

I loved both my high school prom dresses! I even wore my junior year gown for my first Kappa formal my freshman year. So fun and I loved that I was able to wear it again!
Thank you, thank you, thank you, for the prom post!! I am in the stages of looking for a prom dress now and will definitely check out their website. I’m trying to find something that isn’t your typical ‘run-of-the-mill’ dress. I want something that stands out, is simple, but at the same time elegant (I know-i’m asking for a lot!). I typically don’t wear many bold pieces of jewelry, so the pop of color for the earring choice strikes me as a possibility. Thanks for sharing! I love how this post bridges your older and younger followers!!
It’s a very pretty dress.. love the pattern and the colours! :)
So perfect! :)
