latest & greatest vol. 43

It’s been a busy week around here, with a fun weekend ahead! Today I’m heading down to Austin for my cousin’s wedding, which I’ve been looking forward to all week! Another thing I’ve been looking forward to? The 3.5-hour road trip with my parents… those of you who have seen them on Insta Stories know they are hilarious!

As I type this, I’m on round six of listening to Taylor Swift’s new “Call It What You Want” on repeat. So yep, I think this weekend is off to a great start. (Real talk – what do you think of the new song? I love it!)

I still can’t believe we’re already into November, but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t embracing the new month wholeheartedly! Yes… that does mean I’ve broken out the Michael Buble Christmas CD. ‘Tis the season, in my book! :)

You can definitely tell from today’s roundup of the cutest new arrivals to hit the web that retailers are feeling the same way. Lots of bundle-up-worthy pieces this week! Here are a few that didn’t fit into the collage:

Wishing you a wonderful, restful weekend friends! Thanks for stopping by today!

my november powersheets

I always love the beginnings of each new month… for me, they serve as natural “refresh” buttons. I love closing out the month by reflecting on the past few weeks and thinking through my goals and priorities for the next. Today, I’m walking you through my November goals!

Happy November 2nd, y’all!

I always love the beginnings of each new month… for me, they serve as natural “refresh” buttons. I love closing out the month by reflecting on the past few weeks and thinking through my goals and priorities for the next. This process helps me bring intentionality and focus to my every day, something this non-type A, disorganized girl needs in spades!

A little over a year ago, I came across Lara Casey’s page on Instagram (through Emily Ley, another girl crush!) and was subsequently introduced to her organizational system, PowerSheets.

This little notebook is an amazing tool for defining what is most important in your life and creating action steps to prioritize them. Let me tell y’all… when I make the time at the end of each month to work through these sheets, I find myself so much more focused and equipped to take the reigns on the month ahead instead of letting it slip by.

Today, I thought it would be fun to share my November power sheets with y’all! You’ll find a mix of personal and work thoughts/goals scattered throughout, along with a verse I’m praying through for November. I hope it’s fun to see this “behind the scenes” look at my life, and serves as inspiration for your month!

A few thoughts on my November PowerSheets…

You’ll notice that one of my daily goals is to say no to a sweet – ha! I want to take a second to clarify this. I am a firm believer in the idea that food shouldn’t control you. That everyone should be able to “eat the cookie” instead of warring over it or feeling guilty for enjoying a treat. My problem, friends, is that I have a huge sugar addiction. Just ask anyone who knows me! So this month, I’m going to be trying to increase my discipline when it comes to sugar… prayers would be greatly appreciated. (And you’ll notice that it says “a sweet” instead of “all sweets”… let’s just be realistic, shall we?)

Another goal for the month of November is to find a need in Houston and meet it… this is where I’d love to get your input! If you know of a family with a specific need, an incredible organization doing awesome things in the wake of the flooding, etc, would you let me know? I’d love to keep y’all posted on this one. Maybe there’s something we can do as a Lonestar Southern fam!

Finally, I’ve been convicted lately of how I use my time. Since I work alone, a whole day can go by that is totally focused on me. My work, my workout routine, what I want for dinner, getting into bed in time to watch a show I love, etc. By no means is any of this bad, but I’ve realized that I’m not good at sharing time with others. Perhaps it’s because I view that as something that needs to happen “after work hours.” When it comes down to it, however, I think that just stems out of my own selfishness.

When I think about my ultimate goal in life, it’s to show Christ’s love to as many people as I can while I’m here on earth, and what’s the best way to do that? To be with people! It’s hard to love from afar, so this month I’m working on changing that tendency. More friend time… yay!

That’s why this month, I’m meditating on Psalm 90: 12-17. I’m asking the Lord to grant me the wisdom to use each hour in the day wisely and to establish the work He’s set out for me to do. What a comfort that “His grace is sufficient for me, and His power is made perfect in my weakness” because y’all, I am not good at this.  (P.S. That verse is 2 Corinthians 12:9… thinking I need to add that to the list of verses I want to memorize this month!)

Well… I’ve never been lacking in words, let me tell ya! If you made it to the end of this post, I’m so grateful. Now I’d love to hear your thoughts. What your November goals/wishes/dreams are, how you set out your month, verses you’re working on memorizing, tools you use, etc! I’m always looking for inspiration, and I’ve learned y’all are the absolute best place to look!

Love from Texas,

Kate

the fur vest i’m swooning over

If we’re being honest, temperatures down here in Texas rarely justify heavy winter coats. (Oh, how I wish that weren’t the case. Needing an excuse to pick up this beauty.) One outerwear piece, however, that fits perfectly with the mild winters we have down south? Fur vests!

I love scouting out the cutest ones available each year since they’re pieces I actually get to wear all winter long. Luckily, there are so many options this year that combine great price points and incredible style.

One of my very favorites? This ivory rabbit fur vest! Believe it or not, I actually bought this beauty back in July as part of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. (You’ll find it in this post.) As you can imagine, it’s been sitting in my closet all this time just waiting to make its debut.

As the weather has gotten progressively chillier over the past few weeks, I’ve finally gotten to break it out. It goes with everything, is so comfortable, and always gets compliments. It’s hard to predict what you’ll be wearing in the winter right in the middle of summer, but I’m so glad I pulled the trigger on this cute vest.

Here are a few other styles I’m loving:

As I’m sure you are, I am thrilled it’s the start of November! And at the same time, completely astounded we’re already here. Crazy! I spent some time writing out my goals for the month in my Power Sheets and thought it might be fun to share those. Would y’all be interested in that? Let me know!

Kate

fall plaid skirt

One article of clothing I swore I would never ever wear again as a young girl? Turtlenecks. My mother always had me in them, y’all. I can picture it now… a white turtleneck, non-flare Levi jeans, and white ked sneakers. Needless to say, the look did not compete with all of the other Limited Too ensembles I was surrounded by.

I decided that when the day came that I could choose my own clothes, turtlenecks were getting the boot.

Don’t you just have to laugh? It’s so funny thinking back on my fashion sensibilities when I was younger, especially since now the classic turtleneck is something I reach for regularly when temperatures turn chilly. There’s something elegant, timeless and easy about the silhouette. Perhaps my mother did know best after all! :)

Today, I’m so excited to be partnering with Modcloth in showing how I incorporate this style into my wardrobe all these years later! This classic black turtleneck is a must-have for the fall and winter. It works as an incredible base for layered autumn looks, or as a stand-alone statement. I love the preppy look it creates when paired with this high-waisted plaid skirt!

A few more ideas for styling turtlenecks? Use it as a base for styling your favorite blanket scarves, layer it with a fabulous cape, or wear it chic and standalone with a pair of black jeans, pearl earrings and ballet flats. The options are endless!

Kate

On my recent trip to Washington, D.C., I packed up a few of their fall pieces and I’m so excited to share them with you today!

The St. Charles Yacht Tote

While I have owned many different Barrington pieces, this is my first yacht tote! And friends… let me just say, I’m obsessed. This size of this bag is perfect for a carry on (how I used it on my trip to D.C.), a weekend trip to the ranch, a picknick or a beach bag! It’s lightweight, durable, and as always, customizable. And let me just say… it looks oh-so-cute paired with my St. Anne Axis Tote!

The St. Anne Tote

You know my obsession with the classic St. Anne Tote! I own it in over five different patterns and always reach for it when I’m heading out the door. This darling monogrammed bee version has been my go-to this fall. It gets compliments wherever I go! I received my first St. Anne tote over four years ago, and to this day it has held up and broken in beautifully. This would make a perfect gift for the busy mama on the go or girl about town!

The Noteworthy Book Jacket

After falling in love with the all of the bag and tote styles Barrington carries, it’s no surprise that I’m newly-enchanted with their smaller accessories as well! This notebook is such a beautiful piece. I use it for to-do lists and notes that pop into my head throughout the day. It could easily be used for a journal as well! If only I had had these when I was a student… add to your list for gorgeous graduation gift ideas!

I’ll leave you with the same thing I tell everyone I run into around Dallas who asks about Barrington… I couldn’t love these products or this company more! With Christmas around the corner, keep these on your shortlist for beautiful, personalized gifts that are timeless, useful, and last! Perfect for any age and any style, you’re going to love Barrington as much as I do. That’s a promise!

I am absolutely giddy as I type this out… it’s below eighty degrees in Dallas! A perfectly cool 55 degrees, to be exact. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t put Michael Buble’s Christmas album on this morning… premature? Perhaps, but it has put me in the happiest mood.

Know what else is here? A new roundup of the cutest new arrivals to hit the web from this past week. So much pink, so much cozy… I’m loving it all. If we can keep this weather up, maybe I’ll pull the trigger on the fabulous pink parka. Wise decisions, right? You know the drill. All of the cute new pieces I couldn’t fit onto the collage are listed below:

After a wonderful week spent exploring Washington, D.C., I ended up getting a no-fun virus Sunday through Tuesday. Thankfully, I’m back to 100% and loving getting back into the swing of things here at home. Humblebrag? I cleaned out my “junk closet” (something that’s been on my to-do list for over a year…) and took 5 trash bags to the Salvation Army. Isn’t it funny how completing tasks like that can make you feel like a superhero?

I hope all of you are winding down from a great week, and have something fun planned for the weekend! Can’t wait to see y’all back here on Monday!

Love from Texas,

Kate
