polka dot flounce dress

I know this is a big statement, but friends, you’re looking at the most fun dress I’ve ever worn. I’ll be honest… polka dot has never been the first print I’ve reached for. In fact, I haven’t owned polka dot anything until this gorgeous dress arrived at my door! And now that it has, it’s safe to say that I’ll never view the print the same way.

Leave it to Kate Spade to create something absolutely feminine and perfectly lovely out of such a fun, bold print. From the fitted torso to the flounced hemline, the make and quality of this dress is impeccable. I usually shy away from longer dress lengths, but somehow the over-the-knee length on this beauty just works.

I still have a few summer weddings and showers ahead that I can’t wait to wear this Kate Spade polka dot dress to, but am thrilled to know that the timeless nature and impeccable quality of this frock means it will be a staple in my closet for years (truly!) to come.

Kate

blush & white

When temperatures start to rise during these dog days of summer, I find myself returning to the color scheme of blush and white again and again. There’s something so light and refreshing about the pairing that seems to take the edge off of stifling days!

Welcome back, friends! I hope everyone had a wonderful fourth of July, and that you’re able to grab a few extra cups of coffee this morning to get back on track. I know I need as much as I can get! Before we dive in to today’s post, I wanted to remind you of two recent blog posts you may have missed… this gingham peplum blouse, and a couple of Target swimsuits you need now!

Now onto the highlight of today’s post and one of my very favorite color combinations, that age-old classic blush and white! When temperatures start to rise during these dog days of summer, I find myself returning to this color scheme again and again. There’s something so light and refreshing about the pairing that seems to take the edge off of stifling days!

While these shorts in particular are selling out quite quickly, it’s not hard to find fabulous blush basics for your summer wardrobe. I’ve included a few other similar shorties in the links above, as well as the image product scroller below. And if you’re color crushing just as much as I am, you’ll find a whole slew of other blush beauties (in all sorts of silhouettes) here!

Happy fourth of July, friends! My favorite way to spend this holiday is out by the water with family and friends, and whether or not the lake, pool, or beach is on your agenda today, I thought I’d share two of my favorite swimsuits of late!

These two cuties are surprisingly both from Target, which has an amazing online swim selection this year! So many darling pieces at prices that simply can’t be beat.Just a heads up, neither of these pieces were available at my local Target, so ordering is your best bet!

ruffle back one piece

This ruffle back one piece comes in white and black, and is exceptionally well made. The front is padded, and the low hem lies flush against your back. No need to worry about straps slipping off! I ordered an XS, and found it fit true to size. Such a darling buy, at $39!

Having loved the scalloped swim trend for a while, I was thrilled to find this Marysia swim dupe (a copy of this $150 style) for just $25! Not only is the price amazing, but the quality is impeccable. Again, this swimsuit is padded, and made of sturdy, stretchy material. I ordered my usual size in this suite as well, XS, and found it fit perfectly! It comes in 6 colors, and I’m wanting every one.

Regardless of how you’re celebrating this day, I hope it’s filled with lots of fun. (And fireworks!) Can’t wait to see y’all around here tomorrow!

What a fun Monday this is, friends! July 4th is just ahead, and I hope wherever you are, you’re doing a little something to celebrate! Today’s look is one perfect for all of the fourth festivities, and I’m so excited to share it with you.

Don’t you love the exaggerated peplum and delicate gingham print of this top? While both peplum and gingham are seen often during this time of the year, I thought this combination was so unique, chic and fun. It’s a great buy at $39, and would transition so well into fall. For size reference, I’m wearing an XS. It’s supposed to fit a bit oversized, so I’d go with your normal size! Also, it’s available in 3 prints and is selling out quickly!

I’m feeling so refreshed and a bit sunburned after a fabulous weekend at the lake house with my family. We ate so much gas station candy, tubed until our arms hurt and fell asleep dog tired no later than 10pm each night. The best!

Kate

Happy Friday friends, and welcome back to a new Latest & Greatest post! These are some of my favorite posts that I do here… if you’re new, they’re basically a collection of some of my favorite “new arrivals” to hit the web over the past week! And as you can tell, there’s lots of color in today’s roundup, which you know I love!

You’ll also find quite a few beach/pool/lake-ready pieces, as I know many of you are headed off to start celebrating the fourth of July a little early! I’m right there with you. My family and I drove to our lake house outside of Little Rock, Arkansas just yesterday! The cowboy is driving in to join us today, and as you can imagine I am so excited for some hammock-swinging, fajita-cooking and tube wipe outs!

As usual, there were a few other new arrivals that didn’t fit onto the collage, so I’ve linked them below.

Next up, I thought I’d throw in a few random things I’ve been loving lately. Enjoy!

  • I just finished this book (which I loved) and have started on this series!
  • Came, saw, conquered. Couldn’t resist trying this Delish recipe after seeing the video on Facebook and it’s SO GOOD. Making again for a lakehouse snack today.
  • Here’s one girl you should follow if you could use a bit of daily encouragement! I find her faith-related articles so good and incredibly relatable. I really think you college girls/recent grads will resonate as well!

Wishing everyone a happy, safe holiday weekend! Thanks for making me a part of your Friday!

Love from the lake,

Kate

hot pink party dress

Ever since I shared this hot pink party dress with y’all on Instagram last week, I have been dying to get it up here on the blog! We all know that when it comes to anything in a fabulous shade of fuchsia, I have zero self-control. Combine that with a sweetheart neckline and ruffle hem? Sold!

Ever since I shared this hot pink party dress with y’all on Instagram last week, I have been dying to get it up here on the blog! We all know that when it comes to anything in a fabulous shade of fuchsia, I have zero self-control. Combine that with a sweetheart neckline and ruffle hem? Sold!

The nice thing about this dress is that the fabric is a soft, stretchy jersey, making it extra comfortable and movable – perfect for dancing all night! Throw on with some killer heels and a fun pair of statement earrings, and you’re set to wow. Plus, it also comes in turquoise, blue, red and white!

I was surprised to find that this dress actually fit a little on the larger side, in my opinion. I ordered the “P” size, which is basically the XS, and found the length to be a tad bit longer and the material to be a tad bit looser than I was expecting. Because I love the silhouette of the dress so much, I’m running this to the tailor to get taken in and hemmed a bit. Sometimes a well-done alteration can make all the difference!
