After the festivities and fun (and sugar overload… am I the only one?!) of yesterday, it’s easy to automatically label the day after Christmas as a letdown. But not so fast, friends! Luckily for us, we still have fun to look forward to! Sparkly, glittery fun, no less…
That’s right, New Years Eve is just around the corner! And by just around the corner, I mean this Saturday night. Can you believe it? I’ve always found the week leading up to New Years especially fun. From finalizing NYE plans and slacking on resolutions I’ll begin in 2017 (teasing) to, most importantly, shopping for my New Years Eve outfit, I manage to successfully avoid the post-Christmas blues!
Today I’m thrilled to be partnering with Nordstrom to share some outfit inspiration for New Years Eve. Instead of opting for head-to-toe sequins (like I did here) I took a much more subdued approach with this look. This gold wrap dress caught my eye immediately as one piece perfect for the festivities. With it’s subtle gold shimmer and elegant wrap cut, it’s a beautiful, fresh, flirty number that creates a stunning backdrop for some killer accessories! Since it’s of the form-fitting nature, I wore these trusty Spanx underneath, which I’d definitely recommend for this dress.
Now for the fun part… the accessories! How smashing does the dress look paired with these black statement pieces? My typical style concoction mixes stand-out dresses with very minimalistic earrings, shoes and bags. It was so much fun, therefore, to switch things up for this New Years Eve look and really go all out with the accessories. I chose to echo the black in the sparkly clutch (with a tassel, no less), cocktail ring, tassel earrings and velvet platform heels for a chic and unexpected twist on this party look.
And y’all, how incredible are these shoes?! I’ve had my eye on them for a month now, and was too excited to find that they created the perfect complement to this look. Initially, my worry was the height… to say they’re on the higher end of things is an understatement. But friends, believe it or not, they’re comfortable! Due to the chunky heel and the high platform, they’re actually quite easy to walk in, which proved to be an added bonus, as I would have worn these either way. As my friend’s mom used to joke, “beauty before pain.” ;)
If you haven’t figured out your NYE ensemble yet, don’t worry! We still have a week to go, but take it from a fellow procrastinator… now is the time to plan it everything out so you can enjoy the weekend without stressing over what to wear! You’ll find a great selection to get you started on your hunt here.
Love from Texas,
Kate
