I’m going to go ahead and say it… sometimes, winter fashion leaves me uninspired. Perhaps it’s because Dallas weather never gets snowy enough for really fun winter wear (like this amazing coat… a girl can dream) or maybe because I’m more drawn to the flirty, feminine silhouettes of spring and summer. Either way, I’m often catch myself thinking, “If I have to put on a sweater, jeans and boots one more time…” Anyone feel me?

And then last week, I bumped into a breakthrough in the form of this darling, striped poncho…

To keep things fresh and fun during these chilly months, stock up on a few lesser expensive top coats! This exact poncho from Nordstrom BP is a new closet favorite. The material is so soft and the shape super chic – one of those pieces that looks incredibly stylish without you having to do much. The best part? It’s just $38! And comes in a beautiful navy and red as well, which I’m definitely thinking about snatching up.

I have to also give a quick shoutout to my new favorite booties… these Jeffrey Campbell beauts! Believe it or not, I had seen these on a random girl a few weeks ago and thought “I need those.” Since she was a total stranger, I decided not to freak her out by asking where she got them. Imagine my excitement at running into them last week! A love (and purchase) at first site kinda thing. I’ve worn them all weekend and can’t remember the time I loved a shoe more! They fit a little small, so I went a half size up.

    I think winter is a challenging season. I grew up in upstate ny and now I’m living in tx. Yesterday, I was thinking I like how in tx a light, pretty sweater can be enough. In NY I needed so many layers. A lignt fabric, scoop neck, or 3/4 sleeve would be too cold. Having to put a shirt under made things bulky. It can also be hard to keep pretty coats and boots nice because of the snow and salt. Yet, in TX there’s very little time for chunky sweaters and fleece blankets. *sigh* such a trade off.
