out and about

I am all about the casual, cute look. Something that’s not fancy, still put-together, and entirely comfortable. Day-to-day, you won’t find me in anything else! And over time, I’ve landed on a few closet staples that always create the perfect foundation to that easy, ladylike look. A timeless pair of ballet flats, a versatile tote, and a J.Crew excursion vest!

ANNE TOTE c/o (exact pattern no longer available)   |   skirt   HUNTER GREEN SKIRT (comes in 3 colors)   |   hat   VINEYARD VINES HAT c/o   |   necklace   BLOCK MONOGRAM NECKLACE c/o (wearing size M)   |   flats   BALLET FLATS (similar, less expensive linked)   |      watch   DANIEL WELLINGTON WATCH c/o   |   earrings   PEARL STUDS

Let’s start with the ballet flats. Talk about one shoe silhouette that is always practical! Whether paired with jeans and a sweater or a light skirt or dress, it’s one shoe that stands the test of time. Needless to say, if you invest in a quality pair, you can literally wear them for years! After pooling together Christmas money and a few saved pennies of my own, I finally pulled the trigger on a beautiful, classic Chanel pair. Definitely a splurge, but one I’ve been thinking about for a while! So excited to debut them on Lonestar Southern today. :) For the same look (without the heinous price tag) check out this pair!

Next up? A versatile tote. I love a sweet clutch or small cross body for evenings with friends or weekend plans (I have my eye on this one for spring!) but when it comes to running around town day-to-day, a tote is a must in my book. I’m rarely seen without my St. Anne from Barrington or my Longchamp Le Pliage. Both beautiful, quality bags that are worth their weight in gold, in my opinion.

Last but not least, the J.Crew excursion vest. This bad boy has been around for a few years, and from the looks of things is not going anywhere. I’ve owned (and loved) one in navy for a few winters, but held out on a second color for the longest time, just sure they’d eventually go out of style. Silly me! My aunt gifted me the gorgeous beige shade I’d had my eye on for Christmas, and I haven’t stopped wearing it since! Lesson learned… you can never have enough vests.

Throw these three together, and you’ve got yourself a quick, easy and completely darling casual outfit. What are your favorite closet go-tos?

Love from Texas,

Kate
