Oh. My. Heart.

Yesterday, Blair Eadie from one of my all-time favorite blogs Atlantic-Pacific, launched her new clothing line in collaboration with Nordstrom! And let me tell you right up front, you’re going to want to hold onto your wallets. Everything is absolutely gorgeous!

I’ve always loved Blair’s sense of style… everything she pulls together creates this ultra-feminine, colorful, larger-than-life while still elegant look that I can’t get enough of. The gorgeous pieces she’s designed for this collection reflect just that… color, whimsy, classic structure and feminine silhouettes. She’s thought of everything for the sophisticated, fun-loving girl… including slips that add a hint of flounce to your skirts!

The most amazing thing about the collection? The price point! Nearly everything is under $200, and each piece is so beautifully crafted. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw how reasonable everything was!

Needless to say, this Atlantic pacific clothing line is selling out quick. I rounded up some of my very favorite styles that are still in stock (at least while I’m typing this!) for your perusal! One item I accidentally left off? This black and white striped turtleneck. Imagine how chic it would look paired with skinny jeans, black ballet flats and a black pea coat! Swoon.

I absolutely love how true to herself Blair’s collection is. It makes my preppy, colorful, classic-loving heart sing! Which pieces are you most drawn to?

Check out the full collection here!

my favorite black accessories

I think everyone tends to have their “color”… either black or brown. It’s what you love to choose for shoes, bags, belts, the whole gamut. And for me? It has always been brown.

I think everyone tends to have their “color”… either black or brown. It’s what you love to choose for shoes, bags, belts, the whole gamut. And for me? It has always been brown.

I don’t know if it has to do with my skin tone, or just my personal love for a soft, rich tan color, but my closet seems to be filled with all shades of caramel. So every time I come across a piece of clothing I love that’s in that classic, timeless black, I’m left in a bind!

Take this gorgeous black and grey cape, for example. It’s incredibly soft, super high quality and absolutely classic… one definitely worth having in your closet! So when I decided to wear it out one evening in Estes Park, I reached for the few black pieces I own.

First off? These black jeans. Every girl needs a pair! I grabbed these during the Nordstrom sale for $45 and have gotten so much wear out of them since!

Secondly, my absolute favorite under $50 heeled boots! I almost never go for a black pair of boots, but was so impressed with the brown version of these that I decided to snatch them up. I’m so glad I did! Highly, highly recommend. (You can see them here, and in brown here!)

And thirdly, the black Tory Burch tote I borrowed from my mama! She has owned this beauty for almost three years, and continuously sings it’s praises! I will say…it’s amazing how well it holds up. The leather is sturdy and strong and this bag simply doesn’t age. Definitely a fabulous option if you’re in the market for a work bag!

The belt I’m wearing is actually reversible, which makes it incredibly wearable and perfect for looks like this. It was a big purchase that I saved up for, but I couldn’t recommend it more!

So, friends, as much as I say I don’t wear a lot of black, it is definitely nice to have a few staple pieces in your closet for whenever I’m feeling… edgy. ;)

Now, I want to know which you’re more drawn to! Black or brown?

When fall rolls around, I quickly assume a pretty consistent “uniform,” if you will. It’s one I wear almost daily, and one that’s comprised of pieces that are easily interchangeable. The formula?

Dark wash denim. Riding boots. Long sleeve blouse. Vest.

This little formula consistently results in an ensemble that is comfortable, classic and perfect for fall! It’s one you hardly have to think about, and always looks effortlessly put-together.

The key? Investing in pieces that form the base of this! These Tory Burch riding boots were a big purchase, but I have already gotten so much use out of them and will for the next few months as well! I pulled the trigger because they are my favorite shade of leather… soft, caramelly tan! They go with just about every other piece in my closet, making for easy accessorizing!

Secondly? A great vest! This is one piece that adds a layering element to your look, creating some interest and changing things up from the typical top + jeans combo.  This one from Nordstrom is great quality and fabulously light-weight, which is such a plus for those experiencing fall down south. It also comes in black and grey, which are two other great shades for mixing and matching!

What’s great about this ensemble is you can easily switch up the blouse to create different looks. Opt for a striped long-sleeved tee, layer in a crewneck sweater or add a plaid button down to switch things up!

This look is tried and true classic and one I consistently reach for! What ensemble do you find yourself wearing when autumn rolls around?

Kate

Hello, and happy Wednesday friends!

The past couple of weeks have been incredibly busy and productive in terms of wedding planning, and I have so many fun updates I am giddy about sharing!

While deciding on which update I would share this week, I pretty quickly realized that I have yet to share the vision I have for our big day! Since I’m still in the beginning process of picking out vendors and deciding on details, my “vision,” or, in other words, the look, feel and personality I’m hoping to bring to our wedding, is really all I have to go off of at this point.

During a recent vendor meeting, I was asked to sum up how I picture the look and feel of my wedding in three words. After deciding on them, I was surprised at how I was able to translate and describe all the thoughts swimming through my head so succinctly with just three adjectives! So today, I’m excited to share with you these same three words that I want to describe our big day in hopes of giving you a peek into the “vision” behind the planning process.

1. timeless

Ever since I can remember, I’ve always been drawn to the gorgeous elegance of the classic, traditional wedding. From the church ceremony and the black tuxes to the “something borrowed” tradition and everything in between, I’ve always found something absolutely magical and romantic about little cliches that come to mind when you think “wedding.”

“Timeless” is also a characteristic I strive for in terms of personal style. I’ve always loved the look perfected by Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly, Kate Middleton and the like, and have favored classic silhouettes and styles to trendier looks for as long as I can remember. So when it comes to the look of our wedding, I know I want that same style represented!

So, what does a “timeless” wedding look like in terms of Andrew and I’s day? A lot of beautiful tradition. I’m excited to bring elements that have been a part of weddings for decades into our ceremony and reception in a lovely, fresh way. We’ll be getting married in the loveliest chapel, have our reception at the country club that my parents had theirs at, and so on and so forth. It’s definitely going to feel traditional… but not in a stuffy way. I’m so excited!

I know there are certain things about the day that will definitely denote a twenty-first-century ceremony, but my dream is to look back on our wedding the same way I look back on those of Grace Kelly, Megan Markle, and many others.

2. southern

Another characteristic I am dying to bring into Andrew and I’s wedding day? The classic, warm, southern personality and culture I’ve come to know and love from growing up in Texas!

I don’t know that I really want a defined “theme” for our wedding, but I definitely do want to bring in plenty of fun southern elements!

One that I’m really excited about? A custom monogram!

I’ve seen this incorporated in so many weddings, and just love how personal and unique to each couple it makes the celebration! I don’t know exactly how I’ll use it just yet, but I’ve seen monograms incorporated in so many creative ways and can’t wait to brainstorm more!

I’m also still researching who to use to bring this to life, so you have any recommendations I would absolutely love them!

Another way I’m looking forward to bringing a “southern” feel into the reception? The menu!

Andrew and I have yet to decide on what we’ll serve, but if it was up to me we’d all feast on fried chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans, and all the fixings. :) I think, ok I know my mother is going to draw the line at finger food (so chicken fingers are sadly out of the running) but I’m looking forward to getting creative with this and doing something a little different than the standard offerings. I say all of this now, but we will see!

3. fun

Now, I know after reading the first two words you may be thinking to yourself “yawnnn.” A traditional, southern wedding? I know plenty of you have been there, done that!

But y’all, what I’m most excited about bringing into this day is an element of fun. I think that’s one of my favorite things about Andrew and I’s relationship as silly as it may seem to say, we have so much fun together!

So in everything from the color scheme (more on that soon) to the band (which is so different and something I’m so excited about!!!) to the decoration details, the underlying vibe, if you will, is going to be upbeat and fun! More than the tradition or the southern feel, I hope people walk away from this day remembering how much fun they had.

So, y’all… timeless, southern, fun. Hopefully by now, you have a good feel for what Andrew and I are hoping our wedding day looks and feels like! Now for the fun of bringing it all together!

Next wedding Wednesday, I’m planning on posting a planning update… what we’ve done, what we’ve booked, etc. Let me know if that’s something you’d like to see! And as always, thank you for sharing in our excitement! It means the absolute world.

my first bodysuit

Let’s just all have a moment of honesty. Has the concept of a “bodysuit” ever freaked anyone else out? I’m not sure what it is… but ever since they came onto the scene a couple seasons ago, they’ve just… intimidated me. (I think it’s because they remind me of my purple leopard sequined leotard gymnastics days. Anyone else?!)

I get their practicality, and I’ve certainly loved outfits they’re a part of, but until this past week, I wasn’t sure I could ever pull one off.

Friends, meet the piece that changed all that… this $19 lace-lined chiffon bodysuit! At first glance, I didn’t realize it was a bodysuit. The modest neckline and beautiful blousy sleeves aren’t really what I’ve come to expect with those! Know what I mean? But with the gorgeous details and the under $20 price tag, I decided to give it a shot.

I’m so happy I did, because it’s now become one of my favorite pieces to style with high-waisted skirts and jeans. I love that because it’s a bodysuit, I don’t have to worry about finding an undershirt to wear with it… the lovely lace one is sewn right in!

Let’s just say this came as a happy surprise to me. Who knows what “crazy” trend I’ll try out next! ;)

Kate
