Today, I’m thrilled to be partnering with the gorgeous French skin, fragrance, and home product line L’Occitane in sharing with you a gift that does so much good… the Signature Advent Calendar!

GIFT   l’occitane signature advent calendar c/o   |   SWEATER   chunky cable-knit mock-neck sweater   |   SKIRT   white ruffle hem skirt   |   SHOES   black and white check heels (old)   |   EARRINGS   faux pearl studs

It’s hard to believe the holidays are finally here, and along with it, the time to start making lists and checking them off twice! If you, like me, have yet to finalize your “gifts to give” list, this post is for you.

Today, I’m thrilled to be partnering with the gorgeous French skin, fragrance, and home product line L’Occitane in sharing with you a gift that does so much good… the Signature Advent Calendar!

This year, L’Occitane has partnered with UNICEF to join the fight against preventable childhood blindness. So, with each purchase of the Signature Advent Calendar, L’Occitane will help UNICEF provide Vitamin A supplements to children in the fight against preventable childhood blindness. Don’t you love that?

As if the cause behind this gift wasn’t wonderful enough, let’s dive into just how much fun this gift is.

Growing up, my mother would bring home an Advent calendar each year. My sister and I loved taking turns opening up each little box as we counted down the days until Christmas. (This may have had something to do with the chocolate candy inside!)

It’s been a few years since we’ve done this as a family, and seeing the Advent Calendar idea incorporated into this L’Occitane gift brought those sweet memories right back. As I was opening each little compartment in order to review and photograph the calendar just last week, it felt like I was opening 25 individual gifts!

And unlike chocolate that gets consumed in a second, I loved discovering a new beauty product in each box. L’Occitane has the most heavenly-smelling lotions, soaps, and oils, and getting to try so many of them with this Advent Calendar was a dream.

So as you’re mapping out your holiday shopping strategy, consider placing this L’Occitane Signature Advent Calendar under your tree for someone special. You’re gifting so much good, and joining the fight against preventable childhood blindness, when you do!

Love from Texas,

Kate

Thank you, L’Occitane, for sponsoring this post.

the perfect fall blouse

When it comes down to it, there’s really no fall look I love more than dark wash denim paired with tan boots and a lovely white blouse. It’s clean, classic and never goes out of style!

TOP  free people beaumont peasant blouse (more sizes available here)   |   BOOTS   forever 21 faux suede tall boots (true to size, highly recommend)   |   JEANS   calson high waist skinny jean   |   EARRINGS   tortoiseshell hoop earrings   |   BAG   calf hair leopard print clutch   |   LIP COLOR   chanel ultra wear lip color in “merry rose”

When it comes down to it, there’s really no fall look I love more than dark wash denim paired with tan boots and a lovely white blouse. It’s clean, classic and never goes out of style!

I especially love the blousey, easy fit of this free people beaumont blouse. The cropped hemline paired with the statement-making sleeves give it so much style. I adore how unique it is, not to mention how comfortable!

The trick to this top is wearing it with something high waisted. The calson jeans I’m wearing above are a great option, and it would also look amazing paired with a high waisted skirt as well! (This one is a great, classic, versatile option at a great price point.)

When you go for an outfit this simple, you have room to accessorize with something fun! Y’all know me… I love a good pop of leopard. This bag (that I also use as a clutch) did just the trick! Don’t you think it would make an adorable Christmas gift?

Speaking of… I’m curious where y’all are in terms of Christmas shopping. Would you like to start seeing gift guides around here? And if so… anything in specific? Let me know!

Kate

wedding wednesday no. 6 // choosing our wedding photographer

Andrew and I have quite a few big decisions and vendors already decided upon and cemented for our wedding. I hinted at this in my last wedding planning update, so today I thought it would be fun to finally “reveal” one of the very special vendors we’ve chosen for our big day!

It’s safe to say that over the past seven weeks (but who’s counting) of being fiancés, Andrew and I have made a ton of great progress in terms of wedding planning. This I attribute to my incredible go-getter of a mother and my wonderful wedding planner. We made it our goal to get movin’ right from the start so we could really enjoy this season instead of being stressed out by it!

Thanks to this mentality, we have quite a few big decisions and vendors already decided upon and cemented. I hinted at this in my last wedding planning update, so today I thought it would be fun to finally “reveal” one of the very special vendors we’ve chosen for our big day!

Let me start out by saying this… once we set a date, do you want to know the very first call I made?

My friend John of John Cain Photography.

Friends, meet our wedding photographer!

I’m not teasing when I say John was my first call after setting our date. You see… I have truly admired John’s work for years, and I’ve always dreamed he’d one day photograph my wedding. I feel like such a stalker saying this, but it’s true!

I don’t even remember the first time I came across a wedding he photographed, but I was immediately struck by the timelessness of his work. (If you have time to kill, just take a look through his portfolio to see what I mean!)

No funky filters or distractions… just clear, beautiful, emotion-filled images that tell a story and stand the test of time. Everything I want to feel and see when I look back on photos from our wedding.

So when I learned that our date was the one Saturday in June he was still available, I nearly fainted. I know I keep saying this, but truly…dream. come. true.

My mom and I went in to meet with John a few weeks ago to go over different services and talk through the flow and feel of our wedding day, and if you can’t tell from the iPhone photos I managed to snap while we were there, we truly had the best time. (So sorry if the quality makes your skin crawl, John! :)

If his photography wasn’t beautiful enough, you should see his studio, y’all. Blue and white heaven. Even his branding is perfection. But most importantly, to me at least… he and his team are absolutely genuine, exceedingly kind, and service-oriented in every way. We’ve already been blown away at how professional, prompt and personal everything has been thus far.. and the wedding is still months out!

Needless to say, I am just a wee bit excited to have John be a part of and capture our day. It’s such a relief to know this element of our day is squared away and booked. We feel like we couldn’t be in better hands!

Andrew and I have our engagement photos scheduled with John on November 20th, and I am already excited for y’all to see the results! We decided on the location yesterday, and I think it’s going to be so lovely and perfect. (On that note, would y’all be interested in hearing how I’m putting together our outfits for the shoot?)

So there you have it! Our first real “vendor reveal.” As always, thank y’all so much for taking an interest in this day. It means the absolute world to get to share fun details like this with you!

Now, I’d love to hear about the thing you were most excited to book once you got your date and venues all squared away! (Or the thing you’re most excited about booking when you become a bride!) Photography? Something completely different? I always love hearing what people most prioritized with their wedding!

Kate

latest & greatest vol. 71

The hottest topic at the Halloween party I attended Wednesday night? The appropriate time to start celebrating Christmas. I know I may gain quite a few enemies when I share my conviction with you right now… but y’all, jingle jingle all the way!

The hottest topic at the Halloween party I attended Wednesday night? The appropriate time to start celebrating Christmas.

I know I may gain quite a few enemies when I share my conviction with you right now… but y’all, jingle jingle all the way!

I used to be a staunch supporter of no Christmas until after Thanksgiving but realized the Christmas season flew by all too quickly. A girl just needs more time to sing Mariah Carrey, amirite?!

All that to say, I’m so excited to start heralding in Christmas cheer, and would love to know what types of Christmas content you’d like to see around here! Gift guides? Holiday dresses? Let me know in the comments below!

What I do know is that I’m racing off to the mall today to pick up my favorite lip formula in this gorgeous red. There’s nothing more festive than a red lip in my opinion, and I can’t wait to try this shade out!

I wanna hear it… when do you start celebrating Christmas?!

Love from Texas,

Kate
