Today I thought I’d start a new series around here, sharing a few of my favorite things from the past month!
I used to do this on my YouTube weekly recap, and always had so much fun sharing new finds and then hearing about yours. Hopefully, this will serve as a fun way to keep that tradition going!
This post really needs no further introduction, so keep scrolling to see what I fell in love with during January!
a few of my favorite things
JANUARY 2020

A Subtle Glow // My sister gifted me the Charlotte Tilbury Wonderglow Face Primer for Christmas, and I have been falling increasingly in love ever since. Why? First off, it’s incredibly light-weight. I hate feeling like I have paint on my face, but I don’t give a second thought with this! Secondly, it gives you the most gorgeous glow, but in a way that looks completely natural. I wear it underneath my BB Cream or foundation, depending on how heavy I’m going on a given day, for an added bit of radiance. I’d recommend this to anyone of any age!

Conscientious Cookware // Right before the holidays, a new-to-me brand, Caraway, was kind enough to send me a set of their ceramic pans. I have fallen in love with these beautiful kitchen tools, and wish I had known about them when Andrew and I registered! These pieces are nontoxic. They have a mineral-based coating that won’t bleed toxins into your food. They’re also naturally non-stick, which requires less oil/butter than traditional pans. Finally, they’re absolutely beautiful. Check out the array of color options here! Andrew and I have had so much fun cooking with Caraway in the kitchen and can’t recommend this incredible company enough.

World’s Best Face Wash // Can I share a ghastly secret with you? No judging, promise? Until recently, I considered removing my makeup with these wipes “washing my face.” I didn’t realize this didn’t, in fact, count until confronted with this tweet:

gulp
So recently, I’ve been hunting through old samples of face wash to officially check it off my list. It was all a matter of “have to” until I came across a little tube of this magic elixir. Now, all I wanna do is wash my face! This face wash smells like you’re staying in a 5 star hotel, and leaves your skin feeling soft, fresh and moisturized. I can’t be sure, but I’m pretty sure it’s the reason my skin has been so clear lately!

Verses Memory App // My bible study decided to make scripture memory a priority this year, which made me think of one of my favorite iphone apps I hadn’t used in a while! Verses is my favorite way to memorize scripture. Choose a translation, pick your verse (or verses) and close rings as you play different games to memorize the Word! You can even do it virtually with friends. Downloading the app is free, but there’s around a $5 charge to be able to use any translation you’d like. Well worth it, in my opinion!

The Defined Dish Cookbook // The cookbook of all cookbooks, y’all! Odds are you’ve heard of Alex’s new cookbook, but if not, pull up that Amazon Prime stat. You need this in your kitchen! Her recipes are clean, but most importantly, absolutely delicious. And totally doable, as well! I’m especially a huge fan of her Asian-inspired dishes! Last week, I made the Green Curry Chicken and Andrew now thinks I’m the world’s best chef. So like I said, order this pronto! (Also makes for a darling gift.)

One Sweatshirt To Rule Them All // This feels like cheating, considering I just posted about this sweatshirt last week, but I couldn’t put together a January roundup of my favorite things without it! This sweatshirt is not only cozy as can be, but it’s also effortlessly stylish. Which is why I wear it in the house, to the grocery store, and even out and about. (Am I wearing it right now? YES.) Keep in mind, it runs a size big! I ordered an XXS and it’s perfectly oversized.
Safe to say, January brought quite a few new things into my world that are absolutely rocking it. I hope the same happened for you, and if so, please let me know one or two of your new favorite finds! (Or ten, that works too!)
Here’s to hoping February has even more to discover!
Love from the Sunshine State,
Kate
What a vibrant and creative space you’ve curated here! The mix of Instagram Stories, collages, and reels really captures a dynamic aesthetic. It reminds me of the power of visual storytelling. Speaking of creativity, I recently explored using an AI graffiti generator (wildstyle graffiti generator) to brainstorm some edgy visuals for a project. It’s fascinating how technology can fuel new forms of artistic expression, much like the fresh perspectives you share on your platform. Keep up the inspiring work!
It’s a great way to unwind after a long day.

Love the idea of starting a monthly favorites series! The Charlotte Tilbury Wonderglow primer sounds amazing – a primer that gives you a natural glow without feeling heavy is exactly what I’ve been searching for. Can’t wait to see what February’s favorites look like!
This post just made me want to curl up with a mug of hot chocolate and a good book – I especially loved your mention of the Faulkner House. It really captured that cozy, Southern feeling! I’m always looking for ways to slow down and appreciate the little things, and this was a lovely reminder. As someone who builds tools to help people organize and analyze their data, I find that clarity can be incredibly valuable too.
I found this article genuinely useful today, and the examples explained each idea in a clear, practical way for beginners.
