About a month or two ago, I posted a quick little Instagram Story showing my cute little Keurig coffee maker hard at work, spilling fresh coffee into my favorite turquoise mug. (I’ve also posted a quick little Instagram Story showing what happened when I forgot to place my mug underneath the faucet before hitting the “brew” button… but I digress.)

Surprisingly, I got tons of direct messages asking for details on my coffee routine. “What type of Keurig is that?” “What type of Trader Joe’s coffee do you buy?” “Do you drink your coffee with creamer?”

It truly touched my heart to see that so many of y’all are coffee addicts fanatics like myself, so I thought it would be fun to do something a little different today and walk you through my coffee routine! Grab a cup and let’s get started, shall we?

My family jokes that I am a different person in the mornings. Terms like “zombie” and “grouch” have been thrown around, although I’m sure it’s not that bad. ;) What changes all that? Coffee.

Timing

Stumbling to the kitchen and making a cup is the very first thing I do every morning. I usually wake up between 6-7am, and immediately swing open the fridge door to pull out the Britta filtered water I’ve prepped the night before. I only drink one cup in the mornings, but religiously have a second around 3 pm every day. This is a habit I got into this past winter, and while I know it’s not good for me, it’s become my favorite part of my afternoon. I usually feel a bit sluggish around 3 pm, and taking a 15-minute coffee break to rest and reset always manages to perk me up.

I cap myself off at two cups a day (which I know is still too much) but every once in a blue moon will have a late-night cup if I need to pull an all-nighter. Old college habits die hard!

Coffee Maker

When I moved into my first apartment, my mom bought me this precious Keurig K15 Mini Plus Brewing System and I’ve used it every single day since! I own it in white, but how cute is this mint version? I love the size of it… it’s cute, petite and just what I need. I fill the “tank” to the middle level for a full cup of coffee both in the mornings and afternoon. I can’t recommend this cutie enough for a graduation (high school or college) or house-warming present! I get so many compliments and questions on it.

Keurig Cups

Let me tell y’all… I have been around the block once or twice when it comes to buying Keurig-compatible coffee cups and can tell you with certainty that there’s nothing better for taste or price than the Trader Joe’s coffee cups! Twelve cups for $4.99? Unheard of. At any other grocery store, Keurig cups cost at least $8 for a box of 12!

Not only do you get your money’s worth with these, but they taste so much better than any other I’ve tried! (Am I the only one who hates the Starbucks cups?) I buy the Dark Roast pack since I add creamer and still love a vibrant coffee taste, but have found the Medium and French Roast flavors to be delicious as well!

Creamer

Yep. I’m that girl. You know..  that one who “ruins” coffee by dousing it with creamer. And I have no shame! :)

Confession: I used to be an International Delight Hazelnut Creamer addict. I would buy the box of individual cups, and pour two into every cup of coffee I’d drink. But one day, a family friend pointed out that the ingredients in International Delight creamers are pretty sketchy. And I’ll be honest… it was still hard for me to switch!

But I finally found an option that works and doesn’t have quite the chemically makeup of International Delight… Natural Bliss Hazelnut Creamer. It’s made with real milk and cream, sugar and natural hazelnut flavor, and that’s it! I’m not going to lie, I still love to use those ID creamers whenever they’re the only option, but feel a lot better about making this switch.

Coffee Mugs

My beautiful turquoise coffee mugs were also a gift from my mama when I moved into my first apartment. She found them at Anthropologie, and also gifted me matching plates (now on sale!) that I have hung in my kitchen and bowls that I use for cereal every morning.

I also enjoy collecting cute coffee mugs from traveling, and love my Cafe 30-A mug from my family’s yearly trips to Seaside, Florida and my Chip mug that Andrew brought back to me from Disney World. I drink out of Chip every Friday, haha! It’s the happiest way to kick off the weekend! :)

So there you have it, friends! I’m currently looking for a pretty gold bar cart that would serve as my coffee bar to go in the space you see above. But besides that, everything about my coffee routine is pretty set in stone and I love it! Now I’d love to know your routine! Are you a religious coffee drinker? Any favorite brews or favorite mugs? I had so much fun putting mine together, and would love to hear about yours!

Love from Texas,

Kate

I’m glad I’m not alone when it comes to drinking multiple cups during the day. I definitely understand the need for a 3pm cup.

I have the same Keurig! I only use mine on weekends since I grab weekday coffee at the office, but the one cup system keeps me honest. And instead of an afternoon coffee, I like to make a cup or two of tea at 1 and 3 PM to give me little boosts/ (Plus it’s an added way to get all the water I need.)

This is such a cute idea for a post! I use a Nespresso myself and am in absolute love with it! It is perfect for me and definitely helps me in the morning. I try to steer clear of coffee in the afternoon, and usually drink a matcha latte instead!

I love this Kate! As a coffee drinker I really enjoyed this post! I, sadly, don’t use my keurig anymore. I work at a coffee shop for my part time college job and have gotten hooked on lattes with honey and one pump of vanilla. I don’t like the sweet drinks anymore so this is a perfect option! I also use almond, soy or oat milk since I’m lactose intolerant. It’s so delicious and I highly recommend it!

I, too, am a religious coffee drinker! I have a Keurig 2.0 but recently I have been using a plain old coffee pot to brew whole pots that I refrigerate for iced coffee :) As for mugs, I collect the Starbucks You Are Here mugs, which they recently retired, and I am now starting my Starbucks Been There collection (which replaced the You Are Here)! I’m definitely a huge nerd about them. They’re my favorite souvenir to collect when I’m travelling and they look so pretty sitting in a cabinet or on display together!

I’m a religious coffee drinker too, and I also prefer liquid creamer BUT you have to try Frozen Bean’s creamer! Walmart carries it, it’s $5, and in a HUGE jar (which I transform after using into cute cups for my classroom). I’ve tried the only flavors my WalMart carries which is Caramel Macchiato and Vanilla Bean. This is the ONLY powder type creamer that I’ve fallen in love with. Surprisingly, I liked Vanilla Bean the best! You’ve gotta try it! Soooo delicious! I usually put two scoops per cup! ❤️

I am also a religious coffee drinker! I have a Keurig also, but I love to use a french press + milk frother when I have a little more time on my hands! I need to make the switch to a healthier coffee creamer, thanks for the tip!
