Hello, hello my long lost friends! I must apologize for my recent miniature blog absence. As most of you know, I was in Paris for the past week and just got back to Austin (for the last two months before graduation… eep!!) last night. Whew, am I tired! I never intended to be gone from Lonestar Southern for so long, but jetlag + using every minute to explore Paris has a way of taking it out of ya. The good news? I’m back and can’t wait to share all about my adventure with you!

I’m working on a full recap of my trip along with a Paris guide, which will head your way soon, but I thought for today I’d start off with a good old outfit post with perhaps the most incredible background ever… the Eiffel Tower! Swoon. For those of you who have experienced it in person, you know how pictures don’t even do justice. Seeing it for the first time was nothing short of breathtaking! My family and I made our way up to the first terrace (visible in the fifth picture in this post) for a beautiful lunch overlooking the city. We spent forever taking in the views, then got our feet on the ground to explore it from every angle possible. My favorite spot to soak up the Eiffel Tower? The Chaillot Palace, where my sister and I are sitting in the picture above. As gorgeous as it was during the day, what was even more incredible was seeing the whole tower light up and shimmer later that night! If you followed along with my adventures on Instagram (@lonestarsouthern) with the hashtag #lonestarXwanderlust, you would have seen this video I captured of it. Every bit as magical as it’s cracked up to be.

Now, on to the outfit! If I had to give my Paris wardrobe a theme, it would be “comfortable chic.” …And as I type that out I realize it sounds like an orthopedic shoe ad. Perfect. Stick with me, though. :) I brought my favorite, worn-in black riding boots for their comfort and versatility and then played with a whole lot of layering all week. For this look in particular, I wore a chic black sweater over a favorite leopard dress of mine, which you’ve already seen here. I love that the sleeves ended up peeking out of the sweater – it added a fun, unexpected touch! The leopard skirt was a perfect, elegant touch to my all-black ensemble, and better yet it was comfortable enough to walk around in all day. Another favorite touch? Red lips! The shade I wore all week (and my absolute favorite red) is Heat Wave, and I totally recommend it if you’re looking for a cherry pucker. It has a subtle orange tint which freaked me out before I bought it, but it gives the shade such a bright tint that I swear somehow looks good on every skin tone!

It’s crazy to be getting back into my normal routine after such a wonderful whirlwind, but it’s really true, there’s no place like home! It seems that “spring break” actually ushered in true spring weather, finally, and I couldn’t be more thrilled! I was getting a little tired of the clouds, cold and rain. I may have scooped up these brand new Kate Spade beauties yesterday (under $100, and come in five other colors here!) in celebration. Bring on the sand and sun tans! Be sure to stay tuned for more on Paris!

Love from Texas,

Kate

P.S. The jet lag struggle is real, y’all. I crashed at 10 pm last night and woke up wide-eyed at 5:30 this morning… yes, you read that right. Any guesses on what time I’ll pass out today? Haha!
