travel essentials & dallas travel guide

With the arrival of spring, and summer just on the horizon, I’ve found myself lost in thought over my next adventure on more than one occasion as of late. This girl loves to travel, and if there’s one thing I’ve learned over the course of my recent outings, it’s that a key indicator in whether the journey is stress-free and completely enjoyable, or hectic and scattered, lies with what you pack. (Or forget to, if you’re anything like me…) From go-to beauty products to fashion favorites, I thought I’d take today to walk you through a handful of essentials I never leave home without!

TOTE   //   PINEAPPLE BOTTLE   //   SANDALS   //   DRY DRY SPRAY ANTIPERSPIRANT   //   POM POM TOP   //   SUNNIES   // BOOK “Me Before You”

1. Spacious Tote

When it comes to traveling, I always make sure to bring along my favorite St. Anne tote. I’ve come to call it my “modern Marry-Poppins bag” and have yet to find a better, cuter way to carry everything from my DSLR camera to a swimsuit and towel in! A great tote allows you to look cute while bringing along all the little necessities you need for an enjoyable trip.

2. Fun Wardrobe

As a firm believer in the power outfits have on the way you carry and enjoy yourself, I make sure to bring along really fun pieces. Whether it be a colorful swimsuit or a flirty pom pom top like the one pictured above, eye-catching, festive pieces are my favorite to make memories in!

3. Great Book

Whether it’s a few hours on an airplane ride, a couple minutes before bed, or a day out by the sea, spending time reading a great book always enhances my enjoyment of a trip. I’m currently reading “Me Before You” and have loved it so far. If you’re a hopeless romantic like me, I think you’ll love it!

4. Dove Dry Spray

In what I like to call “spaghetti strap weather,” there’s nothing worse than a cute top or dress being ruined from visible deodorant. Dove Dry Spray Antiperspirant promised to go on instantly dry and without any visible residue, so after being approached to partner with Dove in sharing about this fun product introduced by Simply Stylist, I decided to give it a shot.

If I’m being honest, I was a little worried about the “spray” aspect at first. Images of it getting everywhere and causing a mess intimidated me! But I bit the bullet for the sake of my tank tops and wowza am I glad I did! No aiming problems here… it went on beautifully with a fresh, slightly-cooling sensation. While my normal stick deodorant seemed like a routine, the soft, moisturizing treatment of Dove’s Dry Spray feels like pampering.

I also love that it provides 48 hours (that’s a long time!) of odor and wetness protection., making it the perfect choice for travel when the last thing I want to worry about is my underarms. After being intrigued but cautious at first, I’m now a total believer in this new beauty trend, and wholeheartedly encourage y’all to #TryDry here! Game changer, promise. My favorite is the “Soothing Chamomile” scent, but it’s offered in a few different options for those of us picky shoppers.

5. Hydration

I’ve learned staying well-hydrated is a must for getting the most out of a trip. Cute water bottles, like a Swell bottle or this fun pineapple one, always make chuggin’ away more fun for me.

6. Comfortable Shoes

I’m one to explore as much as possible in a new environment, whether it be a bustling city or a quiet beach town, so comfortable (but cute!) shoes are a must. My pair of worn-in Jack Rogers have become my favorite for pedestrian expeditions.

7. Sunnies

The one thing I most commonly forget to pack? Sunglasses. The one thing that couldn’t be more crucial to enjoying a day out in the sun? Sunglasses. I’ve collected a stash of inexpensive pairs to make sure I always have some on hand!

I’m lucky enough to live in the beautiful city of Dallas, Texas, and with all the talk of travel today I thought it was the perfect moment to round up a few of my favorite, must-see Dallas spots for any of you ladies traveling here! DO

1. Dallas World Aquarium (unbelievable exhibits, including a shark tank!)

2. Katy Trail (for a walk or jog before starting your day)

3. Klyde Warren Park (on Saturdays, it’s such a fun spot to enjoy downtown at! splash zones for kids, food trucks, and overall a festive atmosphere)

EAT

1. HG Supply Co (gorgeous rooftop bar to enjoy before dinner)

2. Mi Cocina in Highland Park Village (you can’t come to Dallas and not eat Tex Mex!)

3. Royal Blue Grocery (refuel with a snack and a cup of coffee at one of the cutest stops in Dallas)

4. The Zodiak Room at Neiman Marcus downtown (a posh setting for a delicious, Dallas experience)

SHOP

1. Highland Park Village (I love window shopping here, think high-end designers from Chanel to Hermes!)

2. Northpark Mall (damage will be done, promise)

3. Schneider Plaza (check out a couple of my favorite boutiques Dear Hannah, Cotton Island and Impeccable Pig, and grab a cookie at JD’s Chippery, a local favorite!)

Love from Texas,

Kate
