This time last week, Andrew and I were in Riviera Maya, Mexico the midst of celebrating two special occasions: his 30th birthday and our second wedding anniversary!
You may have seen the surprise I planned for him over on my Instagram Stories… when we arrived, who happened to be at the pool waiting for us other than his parents. :) I still smile when I think about his reaction! With Andrew not getting to spend nearly as much time with his parents as he would have liked due to his rigorous residency schedule, it was the perfect way to celebrate his big day.
That evening, I had one more surprise up my sleeve. A dinner for the four of us on the beach! While I went into it cautiously optimistic (would the wind be too strong? would the food be cold? would we be able to see each other once the sun went down) the experience truly blew us all away!
I’ll save the details for a longer post covering our experience at the resort we stayed at (Grand Velas Riviera Maya) but in the meantime, I thought it would be fun to share the ensemble I picked for the special occasion!
DRESS pink and orange shimmer halter dress (wearing size XS/S) // SHOES gold strappy wedges (They get mixed reviews but I personally love them. They are heavy but they break in and get more comfortable with each wear.) // EARRINGS liza yates roadie earrings (use code LONESTAR for 15% off!) // BRACELETS buddha girl bracelets // CLUTCH lisi lerch straw clutch
With the exception of a family wedding, it’s been a while since I’ve had a legitimate (and I say legitimate because I think of non-legitimate reasons all the time :) reason to look for a beautiful new dress. I wanted something really fun and beachy that screamed vacation. And when I came across this shimmery beauty, I knew it was just the thing!
The backless silhouette isn’t a style I’d opt for normally, but it felt so festive I couldn’t help myself. I know backless things can be tricky to wear – these sticky bras are my favorite solution when a normal bra won’t cut it!
I have to admit… after a year+ of far-too-few reasons to dress up, I loved every second spent in this ensemble. Cheers to spending summer in all of the fancy dresses!
Love from the Sunshine State,
