My ios 14 Home Screen update

If you own an iPhone, odds are you’ve seen buzz around the new iOS 14 update! While I’m usually wary of updates, the new home screen layout of this one in particular got me excited. Bye bye clutter, hello customization!

After updating my phone (which you’ll need to do to create this new look) I combed through dozens of iOS 14 aesthetic ideas on Pinterest before coming up with my own. So, I thought it would be fun to share mine with you incase you’re in need of some inspiration as well!

Oh, and don’t fret! I’ll also be sharing how I created my new pink ios 14 aesthetic, as well as the photos I used to do it, incase you’d like to recreate this look.

While thinking through the overall vibe I wanted for my home screen, I knew I wanted it to feel happy, streamlined and clutter-free… with lots of pink, of course! I shuffled through a few different wallpaper ideas before deciding on this pretty pink otomi background. I’ve always LOVED this beautiful Mexican embroidery pattern (see how I used it in my first apartment here) and it makes me happy every time I see it!

How to customize your ios 14 Home Screen

Before we begin, let me give you an important tip: customizing your ios 14 Home Screen isn’t very intuitive and it definitely takes some time. So keep that in mind before jumping in!

To customize your ios 14 Home Screen, we’ll be using two primary features: the Widgetsmith App, the Shortcuts App and the PicMonkey app. (You can use any graphic design software you prefer, but I think you’ll see how easy PicMonkey is after watching the video I’m sharing below!)

Good news… they’re all free! I did use the upgraded Widgetsmith for the custom weather widget you see on the bottom right hand of my screen, but you really don’t need to spend a dime to create an amazing layout.

Rather than try to explain it all here, I’m going to send you to this video. It’s absolutely the best one I’ve found in terms of creating your Home Screen aesthetic, and will walk you through every detail.

Now that we’ve walked through the ios 14 customization process, I thought I’d share the background and icons I used to create mine. Feel free to simply click and save these to your phone to use for yourself!

It’s safe to say I had too much fun, and spent way too much time, designing my new iOS 14 home screen aesthetic. So much fun, in fact, that I think I’ll update it from time to time! I’m already thinking a pretty blue and white theme would be gorgeous… let me know if you’d like to see more of these in the future!

Love from the Sunshine State,

Kate

Love this feature, but out of curiosity, did you lose the notification icon on your shortcuts? Mine are not showing the little red number in the corner when I have a text, Facebook/insta notification, email, etc.

Love this! I work for the greeting card company, PAPYRUS, and we have some really cute free download-able phone backgrounds for Christmas. Would love to see a holiday themed background :)
