Guess what happens in 10 days. I’ll give you a hint… it involves pink and chocolate and lipstick and sparkles and more pink and smooches and cards smothered in doilies and glitter glue. That’s right… Valentine’s Day! And whether you’ll be spending the evening wining and dining with a significant other, or hosting a boy-bashing party with a group of girlfriends, the holiday is the perfect excuse to dress up.
I don’t think there’s a more perfect frock for ensuing festivities than this little number from Pearl Southern Couture.
When I tried to order this popular Savannah dress, none in pink and in my size were in stock. Worst nightmare, right? Luckily, a sorority sister came to the rescue and let me borrow hers for the Valentines Day brunch I was attending. Thanks a mill, Margaret!
I fall too easily for anything off the shoulder, as evidenced by my wedding dress Pinboard. (Everyone has one of those, right?…)
Add hot pink to the stunning neckline and classic silhouette , and you’ve got yourself a winning combination.
I kept it simple in the accessory department (um hello perfect ruffley-top), choosing my go-to mother of pearl Kendra’s and my grandmother’s topaz cocktail ring for a little sparkle.
This was the first time I’d ever opted for gold nails, and I am more than happy with the shade I decided on. It’s opaque enough to be used without a base color, but not too “flashy in your face” metallic.
As for the lipstick… well… if you read my last fashion post you know my feelings about it. (Something along the lines of obsession)
dress // lipstick // earrings // nail polish // cocktail ring (similar) // shoes (sold out, similar)
While I love this outfit enough to sleep in it until February 14th (and probably beyond if we’re being honest), the absolute best part about it was the occasion I got to wear it for: a darling Valentine’s Brunch every bit as glittery as the girls I got to share it with! (A huge hug to Krista from Covering the Bases for taking these photos!) See it in the Glitter Guide feature, and be on the lookout for a longgg behind the scenes later this week filled with all the faces I got to know and love!
I hope you are filling this week with lots of sugar and fabulously-scented shampoo… two things that are making me very happy at the moment.
Lots of love from Texas,
Kate
