When it comes to style preferences, I heart classic. Waisted silhouettes, ballet flats, Chanel no. 5, deep red lipstick, Frank Sinatra, you get the idea. I’d happily wear something timeless than trendy any day (even though I’m still bitter over my mother only putting me in little white keds as a kid, and never the cool light-up barbie sparkly velcro tennis shoes… but I digress…) Here’s what gets me really excited though – fresh spins on classic looks.

That’s exactly what this dress achieved for me. Blue and white stripes? You see them all the time. Blue and white striped dresses? Nothing new. But put a blue and white stripe on a baby doll silhouette with shoulderless cape sleeves? That makes me happy. Reallyyy happy. And my feet just so happen to join in the happiness (happy feet, get it?) when they are adorned with these gold-accented leather heels instead of your run of the mill, God-forbid, ordinary pair. (And as for a summer to fall transition shoe, there’s not one better.)

So here’s to a happy hump day! I’m nearing the end of my incredible internship which is so bitter sweet. Bitter because, well, I’m never leaving. At least I don’t want to. Sweet because I have a quick shopping trip to Houston on the horizon (I’ll be on the hunt for these babies and some fresh new makeup), and then a visit to Charlotte to see the boy! YAY! (Who just recorded THE MOST AMAZING SONG. I died. He’s not real. Y’all should watch it and subscribe but I’m not biased or anything… #numberonefan) Whatever’s on your plate and in your horizon, I hope it’s something to smile about!

Love from Texas,

Kate
