Job and internship interviews can be so boring, so today I’m showing you how to liven up your workplace wear!

Just kidding. Completely, totally kidding. Did I get ya?

Sequined shorts may not be suitable for your prospective employer’s meet and greet, but a fun night out with friends, a birthday celebration or a concert? Yes please! In the endless blue jeans + another top carousel, it’s been so fun having these in my closet to freshen things up. For a posh look, I paired them with a simple white tee and black accents – a closet-staple blazer and strappy heels. Trade in the white tee for this blush blouse and lose the blazer all together for a more casual feel! These shorts are seriously too fun to wear, and the lose, skirted cut makes them 10x more flattering than most you’ll find! My favorite part? They don’t break the bank. That’s one reason I’m a fan of Necessary Clothing! They’ve got everything from trendy dresses (this one) to precious accessories to drool-worthy shoes (hello spring wedges) at a college-friendly budget. Happy totally justifiable shopping!

P.S. If you follow me on Instagram (@LonestarSouthern) you’ll see I snagged these beauties yesterday! Can’t recommend them enough, y’all, they are magic! Something about the width and placement of the straps makes your legs look a mile long. Trust me, this 5’2″ girl is more than happy about that. A splurge, for sure, but so worth it. If you haven’t yet, check out and register for LIKEtoKNOW.it so you can shop my Instagrams straight from your email! I use it all the time. Straight up #addicted.

    Kate,
I love this whole look. The way that you paired those sparkly shorts with that pearl necklace and white top is perfect. I find it is not impossible, but usually best to use a plain top when wearing patterned or in this case sequined bottoms. The best way to style an outfit is to have one statement piece which would definitely be the shorts in this outfit. I agree that the blazer gives it a more professional look but if you take off the blazer the outfit immediately turns into something that could be worn for a fun night out.
