Today, I thought it would be fun to share three winter bride looks from Nordstrom if I was getting married during the holidays! After a brief pause from “Wedding Wednesday” last week for the Impeccable Pig X Lonestar Southern launch, I’m thrilled to be back with a new wedding-related post!

Y’all know by now that I’m getting married in June, and everything about the day will be colorful, fresh and oh-so-summery. As excited as I am to be a summer bride, I’ve always thought there’s something so romantic about winter weddings. There’s something about the added festivity of the season that makes for a truly beautiful occasion! (Not to mention my parents actually got married the week after Christmas!)

So today, I thought it would be fun to share three winter bride looks from Nordstrom if I was getting married during the holidays! Nothing says “I’m the bride” like a white dress at a rehearsal dinner party! I almost wish I was having a New Years Eve wedding, because this dress would make for the most fabulous going away ensemble! With the classic shift cut and the gorgeous feather neckline, this dress was made for the winter bride. But honestly, it would make for an amazing rehearsal dinner dress year round!

A note on sizing. I ordered an XS, my usual size, and found this dress ran a bit large. Try ordering a size down for a more snug fit!

I know that the unspoken rule these days is that the bride wears white to every occasion, but there’s something about an all-red look that I find just as captivating… especially for a winter engagement party! Stand out from the crowd in this gorgeous red strapless frock paired with the prettiest bow earrings. Not only will you set the tone for an incredible engagement party, but you can wear this ensemble again and again!

A note on sizing. I ordered a 0, and found it to be a bit big. I’m usually either a 00 or 0, so if you’re between sizes, order the smaller.

I’ve found when it rains, it pours… with weddings, that is! I have so many friends who have either gotten married or who are getting married this year. So, not only do I need to have my own bridal looks, but also wedding guest outfits to celebrate others in! Take a break from all-white with this black, velvet sequined number. This dress is perfectly festive, incredibly comfortable, and an amazing option for any wedding you have during the holidays! (And can anyone say perfect New Years dress?!)

my pure barre update

Last spring, I spared about my first Barre Class experience on Instagram Stories. To my surprise, tons of you wrote to say that you love barre! (Check out all of the reviews I got here.) So, I thought it would be fun to pop on and update y’all on my experience now that I’m a month in!

Last spring, I spared about my first Barre Class experience on Instagram Stories. To my surprise, tons of you wrote to say that you love barre! (Check out all of the reviews I got here.) So, I thought it would be fun to pop on and update y’all on my experience now that I’m a month in!

After the proposal, I knew I wanted to really try to bring more work out and nutrition discipline into my routine in preparation for the wedding. So, I signed up for my first free week at Pure Barre, and off I went!

I say this jokingly. But I’m also dead serious. There is no pain like an intense barre class. Who would have ever thought such teeny tiny movements could hurt so bad? Many of y’all wrote to say that 3 times a week is the sweet spot for eventually seeing a noticeable change, and whew. After my first 3-class week I was utterly spent!

But I was also hooked. Because never before had I experienced the muscles in my body working so hard. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good cardio class and y’all know my love for SoulCycle isn’t going anywhere, but there’s something about Barre that hits you in a different way.

I try to explain it like this… cardio is, in my experience, a full-body, all-at-once, sweat it out kinda thing. Barre class, on the other hand? More of a specifically and intensely targeted exercise for the different muscles in your body. No, it’s not as fast-paced and heart-pounding as cardio, but you’d never know from how much I sweat!

After my free week was up, I decided to try the discounted first-month package. I wasn’t quite as consistent as I wanted to be, but still noticed a change… both in my ability to understand what was going on, and in my body itself!

The only word I can think to describe the physical change thus far? (And keep in mind, it’s only been 10 classes or so.) Everything feels and looks a bit tighter and trimmer. And I do mean everything… from my arms to my abs to my seat and my thighs. It really is pretty amazing.

But what I really love about what I just said is that everything feels tighter. After going to Pure Barre for a month, I’ve noticed different muscle groups improving and I can feel the difference. There’s nothing better than that!

Now that my first discounted month is over? I am definitely going to keep up Pure Barre as I prepare for June! The holidays are always a crazy time for me, but once the new year hits my goal is to start back up on 3 classes a week.

It’s definitely a workout like no other, and I’m so thankful so many of y’all recommended it to me!

And now – a quick word about today’s outfit! I shot this mint-green workout ensemble in Estes Park the week after getting engaged! Can you believe the leggings and top are both right under $20? And so comfortable, y’all. (Green not your thing? Check out these same leggings in black!)

I bought this Patagonia down vest for the trip, and can’t recommend it highly enough. I know I’ll have it for years to come. Christmas gift alert! :)

I’m headed to the ranch with Andrew and his family this weekend, so I thought it would be fun to whip up a batch of these for the occasion! Trust me, I’m not an experienced baker. So if I can make these, you definitely can!

Happy Friday, y’all! I usually reserve Friday posts for Christmas-gift related roundups, but today I’m switching things up.

Why? I did something just this morning that I’m dying to share with y’all! It’s the perfect weekend activity, and since we’re getting into the holiday spirit, I think you should know about it ASAP.

‘Tis the season of all things baked, and I want to share with you the gingerbread cookie recipe I tried last weekend and have fallen in love with! If you haven’t tried it yet, stop what you’re doing and try Elisabeth & Butter’s Gingerbread Cookie recipe. Soft, chewy, homemade… does it get better than that?!

I used Elisabeth’s gingerbread cookie recipe, this icing recipe (I used a hand mixer and it was totally fine) and these cookie cutters for a few ranch-themed goodies. I actually used a wine glass for the circle cookies!

I initially used Elisabeth’s icing recipe, and while it was delicious, I found it a little difficult to decorate with. The Royal Icing recipe I linked is a bit stiffer and easier to manage if you’re wanting to get creative with decorating!

It’s safe to say that I’m not very good at decorating with icing yet, but I have a feeling that I’ll be a pro by the end of the holidays… I know I’m going to be making these nonstop!

Whew! What a week it’s been y’all. I’ll be honest, the past two weeks have been a LOT. But in a great way!
