I can’t believe I’m typing this, y’all, but JUNE IS OFFICIALLY ONE MONTH AWAY! And we’ve got the license to wed to prove it. :)

If this is your first time visiting my Wedding Wednesday series, welcome! To catch you up, my fiancé and I are getting married this June. While we’re keeping the exact date private (more on that here) I’m absolutely giddy to share all of the fun with you right after!

It feels like just yesterday I posted a Wedding Wednesday about reaching “6 months until June.” Looking at that planning update is such a throwback. This process has been a whirlwind, y’all, and I can’t believe how much we’ve accomplished in these past 5 months!

Today, to kick off the one-month-to-June countdown, I thought it would be fun to share the top 5 things I have left on my to-do list now that we’re nearing the finish line. I’m thrilled to be partnering with WeddingWire, a resource I’ve used since day one, for this post!

no. 1

create seating chart

One thing I haven’t shared about our reception yet is that Andrew and I will be having a seated dinner! This is one element of our night that I am so excited about, as I love how smoothly the night flows and how romantic the ambiance is when each guest has a designated table and can sit and enjoy the meal all at the same time.

The challenge with this type of arrangement? Creating a seating chart! I am so thankful for this tool that my favorite wedding resource, WeddingWire, has created. The Seating Chart tool allows you to add virtual tables and customize them to their exact size and guest count to mimic your exact layout.

Here’s where it gets even cooler. You can then import a spreadsheet of your guests through the WeddingWire Guest List tool, then drag and drop each guest into a virtual seat! The Guest List tool also lets you categorize guests into groups like “Andrew’s Co-Workers” or “Kate’s Family” so that you can see how everyone is dispersed and make sure no one is left behind.

Finally, the Seating Chart tool let’s you see both a chart of the tables as well as a list of the tables… so handy when it comes to creating an escort card display!

Take it from me, this is the easiest and most efficient way to organize guests and create a seating chart, and has made what at first seemed like an arduous task a true breeze! Remember, creating an account and using WeddingWire tools is completely free. Start yours here!

order reception goodies

Now that so many big-picture pieces of the wedding have come together, it’s time to order all of the smaller details that I’m enhancing our reception with! I’ve been designing frosted cups, monogrammed cocktail napkins, party favor gift tags and more using For Your Party. It has been so fun dreaming these little details up and seeing them come to life!

I’m also needing to order dance floor props, and would love to hear what items have been your favorite at recent weddings! There are so many options out there, from light up batons to confetti, that it’s hard to know where to even start!

no. 3

plan day-of details

One bit of advice a wedding vendor gave me was to think through how I envision the “day of” running before the wedding begins. For example, what type of music do I want to be listening to while I get ready? Is there a certain type of breakfast I’ll want the morning-of? Will my bridesmaids and I want an afternoon caffeine fix? What about a certain candle scent that would create a relaxing environment?

I loved this advice, and am planning on making a “get ready” playlist (filled with everything from Frank Sinatra to the Dixie Chicks), figuring out snacks and beverages and thinking through all other little details to ensure the day leading up to the ceremony and reception is perfect!

no. 4

finalize wardrobe

While most pieces of my wedding-week wardrobe have been finalized (wedding dress, veil, wedding shoes, rehearsal dinner dress, rehearsal dinner shoes, rehearsal dinner earrings) there are still a few pieces I need to nail down before it’s too late!

Here are the items I’m on the hunt for, and am hoping to decide on in this next week or two:

 Bridesmaid Luncheon Dress
 Bridesmaid Luncheon Shoes
 Wedding Day Earrings
 Wedding Day Clutch
 Wedding Day Reception Shoes (I plan on having a comfortable pair on hand if my heels start hurting!)

no. 5

decide on music

This is one “to do” I am so excited about! Our goal is to finalize our first dance, father/daughter dance, mother/son dance and figure out the music we definitely do and do not want to be played at our reception this week. There are worse things that thinking through all of your favorite party songs! :)

For my birthday, Andrew gave me three dance lessons and I am a little too excited about it. We’re not wanting anything super-choreographed, but are definitely looking forward to learning some new twists, turns, and tips to incorporate into our time on the floor!

There ya have it, friends! The top 5 things on my to-do list now that we’re a month out from wedding month! There are still lots of other little details that need to happen between now and the big day, but for the first time, I can genuinely say it’s all finally coming together! Someone pinch me!

I know I’ve said it before, but I’m so thankful to WeddingWire for being a part of this Wedding Wednesday series. Their tools have been a life-saver throughout this entire process, start to finish, from creating our wedding registry to finding vendors and so much more! I can’t recommend them enough if you’re a bride! You can check out my favorites here!

As always, thank you thank you thank you for taking time out of your day to catch up with this season of my life. It means the world to get to share it with you!

Love from Texas,

Kate

my birdies bridal slippers

It’s no secret I devoured every detail of the most recent royal wedding, and today I’m thrilled to be in the most stunning pair of bridal slippers by a brand favorite of Meghan Markle, Birdies! Just wait until you see how gorgeous these are.

Who else watched with rapt attention the wedding of Meghan Markle to Prince Harry?! I will never forget streaming it in the middle of an airport. The moment she joined hands with Prince Harry literally took my breath away.

I loved every piece of her big day. I loved the timeless, elegant dress. I swooned over the gorgeous tiara. And that veil. Don’t even get me started!

It’s no secret I devoured every detail of her royal romance-turned-fairytale, and today I’m thrilled to be in the most stunning pair of bridal slippers by a brand favorite of Meghan Markle, Birdies!

This pom-pom’d pair in particular, The Songbird, was inspired by the custom slipper the Birdies team designed for Meghan to wear on her wedding day. (I’m sorry, how cool is that?!) Meghan’s bespoke pair was crafted out of blush duchess satin with pearl embellishments and, of course, the fabulous pom pom. The Songbird was designed to emulate that very same, special shoe.

I am absolutely giddy to wear these on my wedding day as my bridesmaids and I all get ready. Not only are they absolutely stunning (every detail, y’all… perfection!) but they are so incredibly comfortable. Did I mention the ball of the foot is supported by memory foam?! You can bet I’ll be taking them to the reception to throw on once it’s time to ditch the heels!

The whole collection of Bridal Birdies is to die for, and I know you’re going to love them whether or not you have a wedding on the horizon. From tasteful embellishments fit-for-a-princess to fun tassel detailing, there’s a slipper for every bride. Which would you choose?

These classic and elegant beauties have just the perfect amount of fun to them, which is exactly how I would describe my wedding. Take it from me, Birdies are a bridal must, and a perfect way to treat yourself or a soon-to-be-wed friend!

It’s taking everything in me not to wear them immediately, but I am determined to keep them all boxed up and ready for the big day. I love having special things like that to look forward to!

So, I’ll be counting down the days until I take my first real turn in them. If only they came with a tiara and charming cottage on the grounds of Windsor palace!

Love from Texas,

Kate

This past weekend, I had the chance to attend a gorgeous black tie affair… the Echelon Gala!

It was a beautiful spring evening, and I was so excited for an excuse to get all dressed up. I had a fabulous pink dress in my closet that I had been dying to wear for weeks!

With my dress and shoes all picked out, the next thing to decide on was accessories. Y’all know my love for elevating ensembles with a well-placed statement piece. I was on the hunt for the perfect show-stopping earring, and y’all helped me decide on these gorgeous Kendra Scott Malika statement earrings!

The new summer line from Kendra Scott is nothing short of jaw-dropping. Vibrant colors and unique silhouettes characterize the collection, and you’ll find everything from dainty necklaces (like the Jaxon pendant I wore) to the perfect summer statement earrings (like the Malikas) in the fabulous lineup. There really is a piece for every occasion!

While the Malikas ended up stealing the show on Saturday night, I also considered (and absolutely love) these earrings as well. The Jenni tassel earring is the most beautiful mix of warm neutrals, and the Kai hoop earring gives off the most fun pop of pink! See them all side by side below:

Which would you choose for a night out on the town?

Don’t forget about this exclusive discount Kendra Scott has created just for y’all! Perfect for grabbing a gift for your mama this Sunday… and something for yourself as well!

wedding wednesday no. 25 // my bridal hair inspiration

Today is a big day, y’all! The month of June is getting closer and closer, my bachelorette party and bridal showers have all taken place, bridesmaid dresses are in, and the next big thing on my schedule? My bridal hair and makeup trial run!

Today is a big day, y’all! The month of June is getting closer and closer, my bachelorette party and bridal showers have all taken place, bridesmaid dresses are in, and the next big thing on my schedule? My bridal hair and makeup trial run!

Right after Andrew proposed, one of the very first calls I made was to Maitee Miles. My best friend, Julie, had Maitee do hair and makeup for herself and all of her bridesmaids at her wedding this past summer. When Maitee handed me the mirror after doing my hair and makeup, I couldn’t believe how much I genuinely loved how it looked.

I have always felt like having someone do your hair and makeup is a big gamble. More often than not, I have ended up disliking it for one reason or another. (We’ve all had that terrible pre-homecoming experience at the department store beauty counter, right?) So when I actually loved the look Maitee created, I knew I just had to have her on my wedding day.

When it came to deciding how I wanted to wear my hair, I always knew I wanted to wear it up. Don’t get me wrong, I think there’s nothing more beautiful than a bride who wears her hair down. I just knew for me personally, I didn’t want to have to mess with it or think about it!

I also think there’s something very timeless and classic about an updo when it’s done correctly. And since that’s really the look I’m going for, an updo was an easy decision!

In preparation for today’s bridal hair and makeup trial run, I pulled together a few inspiration images that emulate the look I’m going for. In a nutshell? Soft, elegant, clean lines, away from the face.

What I want to stay away from? Anything that looks too “helmet-head”ish, lots of curls or braids, anything that falls out (because I want to be able to dance all night) and anything that screams “2019.”

Take a look at the images below to see exactly what I mean!

my bridal hair inspiration

I’m typing this right after Maitee has finished my look, and y’all, I am giddy! She captured exactly what I was going for perfectly, and it has me so excited for the big day.

I scheduled my second wedding dress fitting for later this afternoon so that I can see the whole look in the dress! (Definitely recommend doing this.) I know I am saying this more and more frequently, but things are starting to feel so real!

I hope it was fun to get a feel for the “look” I’m going for this June, and can’t wait for y’all to see the full thing! I’d love to hear how you wore your hair/makeup when you got married, or how you think you will when you do!

ready for vacay

Then next trip I’ll be going on is… drumroll, please… my honeymoon! Andrew is keeping the destination a surprise, but he has let me in on a huge hint. It will involve warm weather and a beach!

TOP color block bikini top (20% off with code TAKE20, wearing S) | BOTTOMS color block bikini bottoms (20% off with code TAKE20, wearing S) | SARONG color block swimsuit coverup | HAT floppy straw hat | SHOES white espadrille sandals (true to size) | TOTE straw tote

Spring and summer are my favorite seasons to travel in. Between flowy silhouettes, bright colors and light layers, the warm weather makes packing up so fun!

This time of year, I am always looking for fabulous pieces to take on my next adventure, and one of my favorite destinations for vacation-ready pieces that don’t break the bank? Forever21! Today, I’m thrilled to be partnering with Forever21 in sharing a few of my favorite suitcase-ready ensembles.

Then next trip I’ll be going on is… drumroll, please… my honeymoon! Andrew is keeping the destination a surprise, but he has let me in on a huge hint. It will involve warm weather and a beach!

So, as you can imagine, I’ve been on the hunt for fun, flirty looks fit for a tropical destination and I absolutely adore this set I found from Forever21. This pastel palm-print swim set (top and bottoms) and matching sarong are the first pieces I’ll be packing up! Can you believe I scored all three for well under $100?! Plus, all Forever21 full-priced swim and sport is 20% off today with the code TAKE20!

I was more than pleasantly surprised with the fabulous quality of this swimsuit, especially at such an amazing price. My mother even called it the “cutest thing she’s ever seen,” which you know means it’s good. I ordered a small in both the tops and bottoms and found they fit true to size. Best news ever? They’re currently completely in stock!

I’m also obsessed with these espadrille sandals I found for under $50. They’re so comfortable, and add the perfect amount of extra height to any look. And what’s a vacation without a sun hat and straw bag, am I right?

I’m constantly stocking the new arrivals online at Forever21, because they’re constantly coming out with adorable new pieces! In fact, I just ordered this pom pom set (top and skirt) for the honeymoon. How cute?!

Here are a few other vacay-ready pieces I’m loving:

This isn’t my first time to post about my love for Forever21, and I have a feeling it won’t be my last. Honeymoon, here I come!

Kate
