As with any type of change, our move to Gainesville, Florida last summer has required it’s own share of adjusting. Figuring out the daily summer rain schedule, learning to manage anxiety surrounding multi-legged houses guests, and perfecting the at-home margarita have been a few moments I’ve chalked up to “personal growth.” (Ha!)

One change I still haven’t adjusted to? The humidity. Whew, y’all. It’s a bear!

Since stepping outside often feels like stepping into a warm bath well until late September, I’ve found a few workarounds to keep me sane in the meantime. For one, you may notice my hair in a low bun 80% of the time. (Examples: here, here and here.) Another necessity? Lightweight materials and breezy silhouettes that keep me cool and comfortable!

This blue seersucker dress has been my favorite when it comes to checking off all of the boxes. The preppy, classic style (all about a fabulous collar and blue and white stripe) mixed with the breathable, light fabric make this my go-to whether I’m hanging at the house or heading out the door.

I’ve worn it with everything from sneakers for grocery store runs to sandals as a pool cover-up. At this rate, I have a feeling it’s going to see a lot of Gainesville over the next few years!

And perhaps even Florida itself… as I’m planning on heading over to Jacksonville to pick up an IKEA wardrobe unit sometime this week. Andrew has promised to lend me his truck for the adventure, and I’m feeling simultaneously empowered and terrified to take that thing on the road. Wish me luck? :)

Love from the Sunshine State,

Kate

So cute! My parents used to have a house in FL, and I felt the summer challenge was dressing for a sauna outside, but bringing nothing short of a down parka for going into stores because the AC was blasting, hahaha. Hope you guys had a great weekend :)
