I have to confess, I don’t think I’ve ever put on anything more fun than this fur-hooded cape. Believe it or not, Dallas winters don’t call for a lot of heavy outerwear, so I’ve always stuck with what’s practical in that regard. In years past, I’ve gotten by with a few good sweaters, a trusty Patagonia pullover and a lightweight Burberry Brit jacket. Throw in a couple light weight scarves (this one is my favorite) and riding boots, and you’re prepared for the worst! All that changed when I came across this beauty.

At first, I didn’t let myself buy it. The first reason was because of the whole “practicality” issue I mentioned right above. The second, however, is that it was on a website I wasn’t too sure about – SheInside.com. I’ve kept my eye on this site for the past year or so, and have always been too skeptical to purchase. Everything is so cute and soo cheap. Too cheap for my logic, so I never pulled the trigger on any of the cute pieces I came across. I fished around for reviews, but could never find consistency. Finally, I decided to test my luck and run a mini experiment in the purchase of this cape.

My overall conclusion? Pleasantly surprised to the tenth degree! I had prepared myself for the worst, and was shocked with the great quality of this piece in particular. The cape is lined, the material thick and consistent with the product shot, and the faux fur is wonderfully soft and beautifully colored. I’m not sure if this is representative of every article of clothing SheInside carries or if it had to something to do with the higher-than average price tag (the cape was around $70, while most items run around $20), but I am, in fact, over the moon. So happy my gamble payed off!

I thought I’d put together a few tips on shopping on SheInside, if you’re on the line. The biggest piece of advice I can pass on is to look through the “style gallery.” On many items SheInside offers, though not all, you can scroll down to see images of how others have styled the piece. This will give you a pretty good picture of what the item looks like in real life. Secondly, keep in mind that the product shots used for some of the items may not be the exact item. That’s why the style galleries are so helpful! Finally, purchase with a grain of salt and keep in mind that shipping takes a while.

While I am more than pleased with my first SheInside experience, I don’t have enough personal experience to make a sweeping judgement. I was talking with a friend just the other week who told me she had ordered a cheaper item from the site and was really disappointed with the quality, so do keep that in mind. I’m going to “test purchase” a couple more items to see how they turn out, and I’ll be sure to keep you in the loop! In the meantime, I would be so appreciative to hear if you’ve had any experience with the company – good or bad! As far as this cape in particular goes, I’d recommend it to anyone! My mother even wants it… that’s when you really have to watch out. :)

Love from Texas,

Kate

P.S. Just want to make clear that this post was in no way sponsored by or done in collaboration with SheInside. I’ve been dying to know if the website is legitimate, so I decided to give it a whirl. Hope it helps!

Love your style by the way! You’re one of my favorite bloggers. A couple girls I work with & I purchased a few dresses from SheInside. Shipping did take a little bit but we knew that going in. Once we received the dresses, they were in pretty good condition. Not spectacular, but for the price you pay, they were fine. I would shop with them again.

I’ve wondered about that site too- they have so many cute clothes for so cheap, I thought it was too good to be true! Thanks so much for your review, I will definitely check out the style galleries before I purchase!

I absolutely love that fur hooded cape! I’m definitely a little skeptical with sites like She Inside that seem too good to be true. I’ve ordered from there a few times and it’s been hit and miss- I’ve gotten some very nice pieces and some not-so great quality ones. Your tip about looking at the “style gallery” is one I’ll definitely remember next time I order from there though :)

  9. I’ve only ordered an oversized turtleneck sweater from Sheinside. I ordered it last year but haven’t had the chance to wear it yet. I immediately noticed a very strong smell when I opened the item. It was almost like a plastic smell. It was very overwhelming. I had to wash it right away. The quality of the sweater seems pretty good but the smell was throwing me off. I felt like if I got any ash or sparks on me from a fire, I would go up in flames in a second. I guess we’ll see once it gets cold enough to wear it.

First of all, SUPER cute cape. I would have no idea how to wear that, but you did it flawlessly.

I have always wanted to order from there, but too, have been skeptical. Ill have to try it out and do a review too!

I was the same way with SheInside! I finally ordered this fall and was pretty pleased, except that their return process was quite the hassle. The coat I bought felt slightly cheap, but for what I paid for it and the fact that it’s very trendy, it’ll do for the season :)
