how to wear spring dresses in winter

DRESS pale pink floral dress (wearing size S) | SWEATER cozy white mock neck sweater | BOOTS ecru heeled boots (just got these and love them!) | BAG straw crossbody bag | BELT from this dress | EARRINGS pearl studs

I don’t think I’ve seen a more beautiful weekend in Gainesville, Florida than this past one! Sunny skies and a perfect seventy-five degrees… it felt like spring had finally arrived!

Then I remembered… it’s still mid-February. Womp womp. And while the groundhog may have predicted an early spring this year (praise!) I know many of you are in climates not quite as mild. Many if you are also, if I had to guess, itching for spring, like me!

So today, I thought it would be fun to share an easy way to style light and airy spring dresses for cooler temperatures. Hint… if you have a sweater and a belt, you’re halfway there!

I found this pale pink frock from Forever21, and couldn’t wait to wear it out. The only problem? The ruffle detailing and sleeveless cut makes it even a bit springy for Florida! So, all I did was throw on a cozy, thick sweater over it, fold under the front part and secure with a belt. (I use this belt, that came as a part of this dress, all the time!) The result? A chic yet cozy ensemble that brightens up the dreary month of February.

Now, keep in mind that every sweater and belt combination will work a bit differently, and some may be harder to arrange like this than others. My tip? Try lining the front of your belt with a strip of fashion tape and pressing it to the fold of the sweater. This should help it stay in place better!

Whether or not your weekend was a sunny one, I’m hoping it was wonderful in its own way. Happy Monday, friends!

Love from the Sunshine State,

Kate
