Feigning Fall

Everyone loves fall.

Football season, riding boots, apple cider, and J Crew sweaters. Yoga pants, pumpkin everything, camping and quilted jackets. I look forward to fall every year, but I’ve learned to manage my expectations when it comes to one particular seasonal stereotype: crisp weather.

You’ve heard of Texas heat, and you know the deal. “Crisp” just doesn’t happen for us. So I’ve learned to adapt. While I can’t pull out jeans and riding boots this weekend and top ’em off with a burberry scarf, I can play into the cozy hues of Autumn. And that’s exactly what I did with my favorite pair of Blake Love shorts.

Luckily for me, my favorite seasonal color is also my school color. Some call it burnt orange… I enjoy feigning fanciness and therefore refer to it as “rust.” (PS, feign is a great word to throw out there when wanting to be perceived as fancy)

I paired the rich, billowy shorts with a neutral J Crew button down, which, with a couple tucks, scrunches and rolls, molded into the perfect compliment.

Then I had fun with accessories! Lots of pearly, sparkly, and over the top prettiness because I love pearly and sparkly and over the top. (Don’t you?)

So if your weatherman has yet to predict “partly cloudy with a high of 70”, leave the fur coats for Pinterest and indulge in heart-warming hues instead.

Speaking of heart-warming, this weekend is Parent’s Weekend here at Texas KKG! You can bet I am thrilled for three days of shopping, eating, and being ridiculous with mom, dad, and little sister! They have been missed, and I don’t think Austin is going to know what hit it when they arrive. I hope you have a fun weekend planned (or not at all planned, because those weekends are the BEST) and I would love to hear what you’ll be up to!

As always, LOTS of love from Texas!

Kate

The way you describe it, fall is perfect and beautiful. And even though Summer will always be my favourite, Fall has its beauty indeed! Every season has its perks and this outfit you’re wearing is most definitely one of them! Perfect combination of colours and print, you look amazing!

  7. I love your outfit! So cute. I would love to be in shorts and only pretending it’s autumn… it’s a bit too chilly for that in the UK though!
