easy valentine’s day beauty routine

Beauty is a common topic I get requests for here on Lonestar Southern, and I’ll be the first to admit it’s something I don’t do a ton of here. Want to know why? When it comes to beauty, I don’t feel like an absolute expert. You know those incredible YouTube channels that showcase unbelievable transformations with tons of products and brushes you’ve never seen before let alone know how to pronounce? Yep. Not that type of expert.

But then I realized something… that’s how a lot of you probably feel as well! And when it comes down to it, odds are you’re looking for beauty inspiration that is easily accessible, easily applicable and easily wearable. So today, friends, I am thrilled to share this Valentine’s Day beauty routine, perfect for a night out with your girlfriends, with Walmart! You’ll find easy-to-use products that are almost all $10 or less.

Here’s a breakdown of the products I used. I’m going into detail with how I applied them below, along with sharing a video so you can see it in person!

1. bronzer // 2. bronzer brush // 3. blush brush // 4. blush // 5. highlight brush // 6. highlighting powder // 7. eye pallet // 8. eyeshadow brushes // 9. eye liner // 10. false lashes // 11. mascara // 12. lip gloss in “Rose Melody” // 13. lip stick in “Pink Chick”

For this look, I started with my normal base and eyebrow routine. Those are two steps that are pretty personalized, and I wanted to focus on products you could buy and apply that work well on almost everyone!

With my normal foundation routine in place, I added a dusting of this Physician’s Formula bronzer over my cheeks, across the top of my forehead, along bridge of my nose and under my chin with this brush. (Best bronzer brush I’ve ever used, and it’s just $10!) Next up? A rosy pop of this blush, applied with this blush brush. Not only is this color incredibly flattering, but the formula has a beautiful sheen to it that makes you look oh-so-fresh. For a glowy, dewy look I then dusted this highlighter ($8) across the top of my cheekbones and down the middle of my face with this brush.

After finishing up with the face, I moved on to eyes! I used three shades out of this gorgeous, glistening $10 eye palette to create an easily attainable and soft smokey eye. Simply use the smaller brush of this set to sweep the lightest color over your entire lid. Using the thicker brush, blend the third shade from the left (signified with a white heart in the collage above) into the crease of your eye until the color is soft and muted. Finally, use the smaller brush to add a pop of deeper color along the outer half of your lid, blending it into the crease until all three colors look even and smooth.

Let me tell you… these eye brushes make a world of difference when it comes to blending. If smoky eyes intimidate you, you’re looking at your saving grace. I’ve found the most important part of eye shadow application is having a brush that blends smoothly. These I highly recommend!

One thing I don’t ever wear? False eyelashes! But for a “galentines” night, I was looking to do something a bit extra and found this set to look incredibly natural. Start out by lining your eye with this liner (I always go for a bit of a cat eye) and adding a coat of this mascara. Then, use false eyelash glue to apply a pair right along the ridge of your eyelashes. You’ll be amazed at the gorgeous pop they automatically bring to your eyes!

Finally, what’s a good Valentine’s Day routine without a gorgeous lip? I found the perfect light pink lip combo by wearing this lipstick in “Pink Chic” with a coat of this gloss in “Rose Melody” on top. It creates a gorgeous, bright, flattering pink that I’ve started wearing daily!

And voila, friends, there you have it! My goal in creating this look was to bring you something you can create easily and without spending tons of money on products you haven’t even tried. Take it from me, Walmart has an awesome beauty selection with prices that make adding a new look to your routine totally guilt-free! Plus, did you know that tons of their items are eligible for free 2-day shipping with a minimum purchase of $35? I loved having these products delivered straight to my door in no time at all!

So whether you’re looking for a new lip color for your girls night out or a smokey eye palette for a romantic Valentine’s Day dinner, I hope this beauty routine has given you some inspiration! I had the best time creating it, and hope you enjoy!

Love from Texas,

Kate

Did you perhaps link the incorrect eye shadow palette because the one in your picture looks nothing like the one linked..?

      Hi Amy!

Nope, that’s the correct ones! The product photo looks a bit washed out. The palette looks like it does in the video. Hope that helps!
