’tis the season // gifts for the guy

Happy Monday, friends! There are a few exciting things to note about today… first off, there are officially only FOURTEEN days left until Christmas? One of my friends made this observation yesterday and it totally freaked me out. Please tell me I’m not the only one this season has snuck up on!

The second thing to note is that today is Green Monday! (Ddi you know that was a thing?) Basically, Green Monday is basically the “Black Friday of December,” and is the third largest online shopping day of the year! What does that mean?

You’ll find great sales at tons of your favorite retailers. I’ve linked the very best below, and am using this as my motivation to finish all of my Christmas shopping today! That way I won’t only get great deals, but won’t have to worry about things shipping in time for the big day.

The third and final thing I’m so excited about today is the fact that I’m finally sharing my gift guide for the guys in your life! This is one of my most requested and most popular gift guide posts every year, and am really excited about this year’s roundup.

I may or may not have enlisted some expert advice and input in putting this together (:)) so rest assured, these have all been guy-approved. And since I’m in way over my head when it comes to being “in the know” with guy brands, my anonymous source gave his two cents.

Apparently, Jack Mason is an awesome watch brand, Leatherman is a great pocket watch line, blankets are the best gift (especially those by Woolrich), there’s no better shaving cream than Jack Black, the Woodwick Trilogy candle is “legit,” and you should opt for Minnetonka slippers instead of Ugg. (Some guys associate Ugg with being a girl brand… who would’ve thought?!) This charging phone case also came highly recommended.

I personally love the personalized notebook from Barrington Gifts and the Southern Tide tartan bow tie. And no matter what, tried and true brands like Patagonia, YETI, Peter Millar, The North Face and Ralph Lauren are classic options that will always please.

I’m running around like crazy today prepping for my New York trip, and am so excited to get a taste of Christmastime in the city! Also… I just wanted to say how over the moon I am with y’alls response to my first “weekly recap” video I posted yesterday. I am floored by the responses y’all shared, and can’t wait to keep this up and get to know y’all more and more each week!

Love from Texas,

Kate

Great picks for guys! Especially that pocket knife. I also recommend blue tooth speakers, the Marshall ones are so cool! xAllie http://www.theallthatglittersblog.com

As a guy, I will say that this is a solid list. However, I would avoid that Jack Mason watch. It is just an overpriced quartz fashion watch, like Daniel Wellington. If you’re going to spend nearly $300 on a watch, your money would be better spent on a Seiko automatic. In particular, the SKX007 is a well-regarded, masculine, bombproof watch that offers a ton of value for the money. And it can usually be found for closer to $200, saving quite a bit over the Jack Mason.

Thank you for including Jack Mason in the lineup of some incredible brands. We love your blog! For Trip–Hello! Taisia with Jack Mason here–I stumbled across your comment and want to thank you! We love hearing feedback, and as a fairly new brand on the market, it is always great to learn more about how we’re viewed in the market space. DW is a great fashion watch for a fashion price, but Jack Mason actually averages that ticket price with features like 10ATM water resistance (vs DW’s 3-ATM), all stainless steel components, Japanese MIYOTA movements and mineral crystal casing. We do also offer a selection of Automatics for those who prefer the kinetic movement. We aren’t a luxury brand, but we do see our watches as a great daily driver that has classic styling for those who need a great everyday watch without compromising quality. Also, each watch is backed by a 10-year warranty. We’d love to share more! Email me at [email protected] with any questions.
