This weekend, I had the opportunity to go to Austin City Limits, a huge music festival in Austin, Texas, for the very first time! And suddenly I now have an idea of where the expression “Keep Austin Weird” originated from. :) Just kidding, just kiddinggg. It was a TON of fun, but was definitely definitely an experience!
I probably shouldn’t admit this, but the only song I knew all Saturday was “Shut Up and Dance” by Walk the Moon. (Which was tons of fun, by the way!) Being more of a radio-country and folk lover myself (ok and fine the occasional Justin Bieber hit) I was way out of my league with the true music-lovers there! I figured the least I could do was dress the part… so that I did.
Playing up the Austin, hippie vibes, I wore a fringe black skirt, suede top, and my favorite part, a concho belt! I was inspired by southwestern style and more the more edgy vibes of rock concerts, and had fun taking a step away from my classic, feminine style to walk in the “wild” side.
Funny story… driving into Austin, I still didn’t know what shoes to wear! I ran into a Target and found a pair of comfortable black booties that I wouldn’t cry over if they happened to get dirty. They stayed on all weekend!
So there you have it… an Austin, hipster-fied version of Kate. I am now back in my ballet flats and ruffly flats listening to very basic Spotify playlist, so no worries, everything is back to normal. :)
Love from Texas,
Kate
P.S. Huge shoutout to my ACL buddy and best friend Amanda for snapping these pics. She did AMAZING, right? And endured the stares of confused strangers… which is always fun.
P.P.S. If you are having a hard day, give “Though You Slay Me” by Shane & Shane a listen. It’s a beautiful song and contains some incredible truth that I am leaning heavily on today. Oh friends. It’s hard to learn that He really is all you need, but it is good.
Love this outfit, you look absolutely adorable even as a “hipster” ;)
Also, that song is so so so good. Shane & Shane always bring a deeper form of worship for me.
I’m obsessed with your look! Such a perfect 70’s style :)

I’m so jealous, that festival would be right up my alley, your outfit is cute though (so Texas ;) ). Did you happen to see G-Eazy? He’s a rapper than went to college in New Orleans so I have followed his career for awhile and I saw him perform at Made in America in Philly recently and he’s gotten so popular! I know he played ACL too!
And if it makes you feel better I would probably know one song at a country festival :P
