a few friday favorites

Honestly, I don’t know what’s better than having a Friday immediately after a holiday. Thanking the calendar gods for this year’s setup, and hoping everyone has been enjoying the fourth of July festivities!

My Friday tradition here on Lonestar Southern is to post a roundup of the cutest new arrivals to hit the web (see the full collection over the years here) but since I just posted a red white and blue collage, I thought I’d switch things up today!

So, meet today’s “Friday Favorites” post! This is a genre I’ve seen many bloggers write about before, and I always love seeing what is making the list.

I’ve got a random assortment for you today, from a drugstore beauty buy to a new pair of shorts I’m wearing nonstop… so without further adieu, here’s the full lineup!

striped top // denim shorts // sneakers // sunnies // hat

New Shampoo

I’ll be the first to admit that I’m a sucker for cute packaging. The night Andrew and I drove into Gainesville, we made a Target run for the necessities and I came away with this Rose Water Shampoo and Conditioner. Oh my word, y’all. It smells truly amazing and leaves my hair feeling so soft and clean. Definitely recommend!

Ikea Pillow Cushions

If there’s one thing that makes a home feel cozy, it’s, in my opinion, lots of fluffy pillows! I stock up on these 26″ x 26″ FJADRAR pillow cushions from Ikea whenever I find myself there. They’re amazing quality, super fluffy, and look great on everything from beds to couches. Did I mention they’re just $10 each?

Denim Shorts

A couple of years ago, I kinda threw in the towel on denim shorts. Every pair I ordered seemed to be so dang skimpy that I couldn’t find any I felt comfortable in! But after noticing so many girls here in Florida wearing denim shorts as a staple, I finally decided to give this AGOLDE pair a chance. MIC DROP. They’re amazing. I read a ton of reviews for sizing, and decided to order my normal jean size, 24 and a size smaller, 23. The 24 was exactly the fit I was looking for… loose around the thigh, great length etc. The 23, on the other hand, was the short, fitted style I didn’t want. All that to say, if you’re looking to invest in a great-fitting pair of jean shorts, try these! They’re available from lots of retailers: Shopbop, REVOLVE, Urban Outfitters and Neiman Marcus.

Drug Store Beauty Buy

Fresh out of my go-to foundation, I decided to pick up this tube of BB cream while out and about. I didn’t read a single review on it, I hadn’t heard anything about it, I just needed something and it looked like it might work. Fast forward a week and I am SO impressed with this stuff! I love that it goes on smooth, not sticky, and leaves my face feeling soft. I don’t have to set it with powder or anything! It’s nice coverage and oh-so-easy. I wear the shade light and will definitely buy again.

Amazon Find For The Mister

Andrew made an appearance in my IG stories this week wearing a linen shirt, and instantly my DMs were being flooded with questions about where it was from. Y’ALL. The best Amazon find ever, and under $25! I ordered about five different colors for Andrew for our honeymoon, and he (who won’t wear anything uncomfortable) straight up loves them. My dad, after seeing Andrew in one, decided he needed a few as well! The rest is history.

Best PJ Brand

I’ve always been one to sleep in XL sorority tshirts and flannel pajama pants from the 7th grade, but finally decided the wedding was a perfect excuse to “up” my pj game! A couple of months before the wedding I ordered a pair of Honeydew Intimates PJs because I thought they were cute (these shorts with this top) but once I actually felt how crazily soft and sudsy they were, I became a true believer! Like I said, they’re crazy soft, lightweight enough for summer and they don’t shrink when you wash them. I have my eye on this set next!

That’s all for today, friends! If you enjoyed this series, let me know and I’ll start doing more favorite roundups. In the meantime, I’m off to run errands and then catch up on emails. Andrew is on call this weekend, so I plan on binge watching Madam Secretary and cranking out some long-overdue wedding thank you notes!

Love from the Sunshine State,

Kate

P.S. Did you know that the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale opens to Nordstrom cardholders next week?! I’m so excited, and would love to know what you’re looking for!

I’ll have to try the AGOLDE shorts. It’s so hard to find denim shorts that fit snug in the waist but that aren’t too tight around the thigh!

LOVE this!! Please do this every Friday! I have to admit I’m probably on the older side (gosh, I hate admitting that) of your followers but love your posts and blogs nonetheless! Welcome to Florida by the way. I moved here from Houston 15 years ago. I can’t imagine I have to tell you Texas will always have my heart but I this is now home. I ordered my husband a few of Andrew’s shirts and he is a huge fan now! He teases me all the time about my IG hobby but now is a believer (at least in your recommendations)! Anyway, thank you for the time you take to “shop” for us. Congratulations again to you and Andrew. May you be blessed with a lifetime of love and a happy home.

Can’t wait to try the Pantene Rain Water shampoo. It’s time for a change. I’m also in the market for a lighter foundation than the Clinique one I’ve been using so a Target run is in my immediate future. I love these favorites posts … and videos … and I also really love your “what’s new” collage style posts as well. I know this is your career and our comments are in a sense your “performance review” I just want you to know this follower… and I can tell MANY others … think you are doing an AMAZING job!!!
