A FEW FRIDAY FAVORITES

Hello from sunny Sandestin, friends! It’s been a whirlwind of a week, starting with a trip to Dallas to put together the Lonestar Southern X The Impeccable Pig Winter Collection, and ending with a weekend getaway to the Hilton Sandestin! I’m writing from my hotel room before we head into town for lunch. It’s gorgeous here, and I’m loving another taste of the beach! You can follow along all weekend on Instagram!

I truly wasn’t anticipating this week to end up being so busy! Do you ever have those weeks? I ended up taking an unexpected leave of absence from here these past few days because of everything going on. I hated being away, and it feels so good to be back today with a few Friday favorites! On top of that, I’ve been creating lots of fun posts I’m SO excited to share with you here in the next few weeks!

Before I sign off for the weekend, let’s get to a few recent favorites!

Wearing the Maisie from the Gal Meets Glam August Collection.

THE BEST DRESS

I don’t know what it is, exactly, but there’s something about the silhouette of this tiered popover dress that is simply perfect. I wore it for the first time last night and got so many compliments from strangers galore. That’s when you know it’s good, right? I love the feminine, flouncy cut of it… a style that works for the office as well as the weekend! Now that I own it in blue and white stripes, I want it in pink. And white. Every shade, really! A note on sizing: I ordered one size down from my regular size to an XXS and loved the fit. I also ordered my normal size in Petite (XS) and loved that it was a bit shorter. If you’re vertically challenged like me, try your normal size in petite. Otherwise, size down one!

LOVER

TSwift fans and haters alike… what is your opinion on her new album, Lover? It released last night and I spent the wee hours of the morning listening to every track before heading to a 6:30 am workout class. Honestly, I love it! While it’s rather catty, my current favorite is “I Forgot That You Existed.” And how cute is “London Boy?” Dying to know what y’all think!

ALL THE ARUGULA

Ok. This is so random, basic and perhaps even boring, but ever since my family trip to Seaside, I’ve been obsessed with arugula salad! Literally nothing other than arugula, lemon juice, olive oil (obsessed with this brand) and sea salt. And I am NOT a salad girl. But y’all, I’ve had one almost every day this past week! Now I’m looking for ways to switch it up. So if you have an arugula recipe you love, lemme know! And if you haven’t tried it, this is your “push” to give it a whirl. Mmmm, I’m drooling thinking of it just now!

HAVE TO HAVE HIGHLIGHT

I recently re-discovered this little beauty tool, and have fallen in love with it all over again! I forgot how drastically a well-blended swipe of highlight along the top of your cheekbones can brighten up your face. I swipe this Marc Jacobs Glow Stick lightly on each side and then blend in carefully with a Beauty Blender. Rosy, dewy cheeks for days! P.S. If you’re a Sephora Rouge or VIB member, don’t forget about the sale that ends on August 27! Rouge members get 20% off their order and VIB members get 15% off of theirs. Also, if you’re curious, I recently posted a glam makeup YouTube tutorial here.

GRAB THIS JACKET

You’ve seen it in tons of my Instagram Stories and even a few posts lately… this jacket, y’all! I can’t get enough of it! I purchased it during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, and it’s quickly turned into one of my most-worn items ever since. I wear it around the house, over a sports bra and leggings when I go workout, and most recently to the airport! It’s an effortlessly chic, cozy, light-weight number that works for pretty much everything. Comes in pink and dark grey as well… love!

Ok friends, that’s all for now! I hope you have a sunny, relaxing weekend. Don’t forget, you can follow along with my weekend adventure via Instagram Stories!

Love from the Sunshine State,

Kate

    I love Arugula Pesto:

Throw slivered almonds, a clove of garlic, a hunk of parmesan, a handful of basil, the juice of half a lemon, and as much arugula you like with extra virgin olive oil and blend in a food processor until you like the texture. I stir into pasta or freeze for later. Fresh and delicious when you’re wanting a bit more than salad.

I LOVE arugula salad! I’ll typically add a couple grinds of women pepper. It’s delicious during the summer with sweet watermelon or some grilled halloumi cheese (Trader Joe’s!) It’s nice to have something so easy to make on those long days where cooking seems like too much.

My favorite arugula salad was actually a Hello Fresh recipe!
-Use a vegetable peeler to make zucchini ribbons and mix with arugula
-Toss in diced fresh mozzarella and sliced nectarine
-Top with fresh croutons (dice bread, drizzle olive oil, salt, pepper and bake in oven for a few minutes)
-Dressing: Olive oil, fresh lemon juice, shallot, garlic, salt pepper

  8. Adding arugula to the top of pizza, right before you eat it, is truly the best. One of the pizza places where I live does it, and I never order anything else – it’s so good and it makes me feel a little better about eating that extra piece.

I’m currently craving/obsessed with arugula salads as well! Especially during the Summer months. Like your mixture, mine is also simple with a little sweetness added to it! I mix arugula, small pieces of apples, roasted sunflower seeds, salt, pepper, and a drizzle of olive oil. It’s been my go-to lunch when working from home!

Sounds like you had an amazing, but busy, week! I’m always looking for ways to streamline my professional life, especially when it comes to things like updating my online presence. Speaking of which, I recently tried HeadshotBook and was blown away by how easy it was to get professional-looking headshots for my LinkedIn profile. It’s saved me so much time and money compared to hiring a photographer.
