It’s no secret that I’m hopelessly obsessed with everything Southern, right? Texas absolutely qualifies as Southern (if you’ve never been annoyed by overly-agressive Texas pride, I can make sure you check that one off of your bucket list) but definitely in a more laid-back manner. What I really adore is the Southern style that East Coast states, Georgia, North Carolina, etc, embody, where Lilly Pulitzer is worn year round, pastels are part of every closet, and “classic” can be applied to every look.So when one of my very favorite Southern ladies, Rachel from A Preppy State of Mind, asked if I’d join her in her navy & white week, you bet I said yes! (With a few hundred exclamation marks and a couple smilies, of course.)
I decided to put together a look perfect for North Carolina (I’m biased because of the boy) summer outings and back yard bbq’s.
A trip to Gap resulted in this precious gingham + sundress combination! They have the most adorable, classic little white dresses (along with a great 4th of July sale) right now. The second I tried this one on, I knew it was going to be a summer staple.Gingham is one of my very favorite patterns. (Did you see these gingham goodies I found at Target?) It’s timeless, youthful, and completely Southern. Throw it on a button down, and you’ve got me sold.
My favorite part about this outfit? The tied up shirt over the classic sundress. The look is completely timeless and also so fun! You can bet I’ll be wearing this the evening of July 4th. Do you have your outfit yet?
If you love this look, you’ll find some of my favorite white sundresses here!
I hope you’re having a lovely summer, regardless of how “Southern” your state is! Thanks for making Lonestar Southern a part of your day. I’d love for you to follow along on Instagram, Pinterest, Facebook and Bloglovin to stay in touch! :) And don’t forget to check out Rachel’s precious navy and white look here! Warning: If you’re currently landlocked like I am, you’re going to be so jealous of her gorgeous setting!
Love from Texas,
