It was a beautiful week in Seaside. The weather was warm, the water was clear, and I got to give my favorite summer outfits a final hurrah before stuffing them away for the fall.
There is one getup in particular that I will miss more than most, and as such, I decided to make it a permanent resident of Lonestar Southern’s dress up files…
My mother’s yellow linen embroidered Madewell top… that was purchased on sale… 3 years ago. (We can go with “vintage”, right?)I swear, my mother has the best fashion sense in the universe. And it’s oh so convenient for me when she brings home pieces like this. (Though she may not agree… :)I generally steer clear of embroidery, as it “peaked” trend-wise a couple years ago, but the way it accentuates the bright yellow of this linen with a bold, unique pattern is anything but typical or passé. I’m trying to justify my obsession with big, fancy words. Let’s move on.I love that this top doesn’t call for much accessorizing. Don’t get me wrong, I adore a great statement necklace as much as the next southern belle, but in the summertime, anything that’s hassle free is a winner in my book. (See previous post.)*Que the Danielle earring by Kendra Scott, my all-time favorite in the ranks of hassle free accessories, or actually ANY type of accessories. This top has been my go-to all summer, and was perfect for a lovely dinner at George’s in Alice Beach last night. More on this favorite restaurant, along with other tidbits from my vacation soon!I’m oh so sad to see the season for this little top draw to a close, but am thrilled summer travels haven’t ended quite yet! Tomorrow morning I am flying to Charlotte, North Carolina for the week to visit the much-missed boy! There will be plenty of pictures, because yes, I’m that girl. Hehe. :)
Here’s to the brightness and beauty of summer, and to carrying it forward into August! Wishing you all a very lovely weekend!
